"Vacuum your oven! Ary you crazy?"

I had a pizza implosion in my oven (don't ask). It was such a mess that I knew I should clean it right up. So I let it sit for a couple of days.
Used a spatula to pick up the big pieces and punched the Self Clean button on my Frigidaire. If was kind of fun for awhile, it was like having a fireplace in the kitchen. After the flames died down and the door unlocked I was in no mood to clean up the aftermath of the carnage. Sooo, I remembered my Westinghouse stick vac that I hadn't used in forever (Obviously, since it was a Shark 2 in 1). Anyway, converted it to handheld and vac'ed the crap out of the oven. Miracle! Quick wipe with damp cloth and good to go.

I used to use a plug in dustbuster on our fireplace after cleaning it out. Mainly to get rid of the last remnants of dust. After a few times the dust buster didn't work so well.It seems the dust from the fireplace was so fine it went through the air filter and clogged the motor up. So be careful.

And I thought I was the only one that did that! When we had a self cleaning oven, I always vacuumed the traces of ash before wiping it. Much easier than trying to wipe wet ashes.

After you have run the high temp self clean cycle--why not-easiest way to get rid of the ashes-they are dry-so the vacuum will deal with them just fine.My Dad used to have a red Dirt Devil hand vac by has fireplace to clean up ashes and bark from logs loaded into the fireplace.Worked just fine!The DD vac was used only for that purpose.

I would do too...but it over ten years, I've never used the self clean on my oven. The only thing I use my oven for is to heat things up. I don't bake or cook from scratch like a lot of you, because I suck at it!......I have vacuumed burned crumbs in my oven before though.....

I would never have thought of vacuuming the ashes after using the self clean....I will next time however.
