Wow, that’s a load of vintage appliances

Somebody could spend the next three months driving around the country and have an instant appliance collection.

I love the pink Maytag washer probably a PA 100, it’s a nice simple time fill machine. There was something elegantly simple about those timed fill Maytags helical drive washers.

I love that Norge also probably the last of the VHQ series we have a model that’s one year older that doesn’t have the woodgrain and has the three speed motor. A very neat machine.

Thanks for posting all this Dan

1 - Whirlpool BD washer, slighly newer dryer = LFA5800 washer

2, 3 - Coppertone Kenmore set = likely Coffee, not Coppertone.  Washer is a lower electronic control, not LK.  Also a KDS-15.

4 - Very Nice TOL Kitchenaid Set = not TOL, one step below.

5 - MOL Whirlpool dryer = nope, TOL LDE9800.

6 - Whirlpool dryer (looks TOL) = yes, LFE-9800, match to the first electronic control washer.

Not a 1-18 washer though. It’s a WCI.

WCI models still used a window lid? Interesting...

D3 Westinghouse auto dry dryer

Wow, this Westinghouse dryer looks like it’s new. It’s nearly 70 years old. It was definitely a nice clean dry environment.

The auto dry system on. This was a complicated thermostat control and it probably worked quite well for normal size loads of clothing but Westinghouse stopped using the system pretty quickly, it did give you a nice range of dryness adjustment.

Westinghouse auto dry dryers all the way through the 50s just used a thermostat mounted on the outer casing and when the clothes load got up to a certain temperature it said it’s done and it went into a cool down and shut off. It didn’t allow for much variation of load sizes and fabric types , their auto dry always only worked on the highest heat setting for example.

We had a D3 dryer like this I never really used it and I traded it to somebody when I got the pair of 55s from John Charles.

I hope you get that Norge Ben that’s a really cool machine, Norge Was fighting their bad reputation with the VHQ series and they really had beefed up the washer a lot and they were substantially longer lived by the late 60s, they also simplified the machine a little bit going into the 70s and you would see Norges that often lasted a good while with fewer or no problems.
