OMG!

This is the exact dw my folks had. Dad ultimately built it in. It wasn't a KitchenAid, but worked well nonetheless. And a Roto-Rack too!! Oh Lord, give me strength!!

OY. That's the portable version of the RotoRack we had at the home in Houston. Bought about 1972 or early 1973. Tis has the smaller timer knob/dial than the lake house version with the big dial. Same models in the line-up (just below the LK), this has separate buttons for normal or sani-rinse. Main buttons are Rinse & Dry, Rinse & Hold, LIght wash, and Normal wash. The GE GSD1200 replaced this dishwasher in fall-1988 because bottom rack had so many rusted away tines Mom couldn't put nearly as much in as she once did. I cried when it left. GIVE ME STRENGTH!!

What is this, first a Kenmore washer that never got used now this?
Is there hope for others???

Can we hope. That perfect 1950s frigidaire washer? 1978 GE washer? ________(fill in the blank with your wish) and lets all wish.

1970 Kenmore 800 set NIB?

My aunt had a Lady K dishwasher like this. I remember pushing the shiny buttons and the "shick... shick..." sound they made, followed by the sound of my mom yelling "Stop playing with the dishwasher".

Wow!

Other than the color (ours was white) this is the exact dishwasher we had! Got it around Valentine's Day 1972, I believe.
Frankly, I wasn't a big fan of the Roto Rack. You may spank me now.
And is it just me, or does "Roto Rack" sound like something Scooby Doo or Astro would say?
Sure wouldn't mind having this, I tell you. Denver to Baltimore is a little too long of a trip, though.
Hmmm. Sure would go nicely with the NIB Avocado Bradford set...

Veg - this is the same d/w we had too! Our first, in white as well. Ours had some issues with the lower wash arm, once in a while it make a revolution around the tub, but it was normally stuck in one place. The timer went out and we replaced it with a Maytag in '81. Everything in the top rack was always clean, but you're right, capacity is somewhat limited with the shape.

Thanks guys - since this was my childhood dishwasher, and brand-spankin' new, I couldn't resist. This should be fairly easy to have a plexiglas door cut for the opening and Robert said he'd come video it for the club - yay! Hahahaha!

Don (Jetaction) called and offered his "intervention" services today but since I'm not the only one snapping up green roto-racks on ebay, he's not qualified! Someone help, please!

Greg - You do have it bad!!

I would recommend intensive inpatient therapy. I can arrange for a good facility at a good price. I believe that they use aversion therapy. Just kidding. Congratulations. This was the exact one my folks had in the same color no less!! The panel above the buttons light if I am not mistaken. How many dishwashers do that? Can't wait to see the action.

Sears musta sold a ton o' these

because of this thread and because I had an aunt who had this same portable in the same color.

In the 1970s, I encountered 3 different families who had built-ins of this DW in the same color. And, in 1975, my family and I stayed in a vacation lodge that had this machine installed in the kitchen. The two times we used it, Mother would load it up and start it just as we were walking out the door to go somewhere, so I never got to see it in action. Now, the harvest gold super capacity coin-op Whirlpool washers in the on-the-grounds laundry center were a different story...

Greg - as to your needing Appliance Anonymous to get you off the habit, you could shut off your internet connection and not read the newspapers, and go to no more estate sales, and the way your luck is running this summer, someone would knock on your front door with some dream machine they'd toted over to you.

All this means is that you may as well get your rear in gear to host the *next* SRVAA convention, so's we can all play with the new stuff you got.
