Hi All,
I've been looking at this stove on Craigslist but can't decide whether to go for it or not. It's a 30 inch Brown Stove Works stove from sometime in the 50s. I can't find out anything about the reputation of this brand from this time period. I know they make crappy stoves under the Brown name now and excellent stoves under the FiveStar name but I'm not sure about their stoves from the 50s. Any thoughts?

These were

VERY good stoves, this is a mid 50s model, old Grover Cleveland Brown himself was still running the show then, and he built a good product at an affordable price, if it was close I would be ALL OVER IT, I want a Brown, Dixie and or a Hardwick, all Cleveland Tennessee products, they were great back then, but really wend downhill later.

Thanks for the info! I thought the stove looked decent - just wasn't sure about the quality of the build. Are these easy to convert to modern safety pilots? It's required by law in MA.
