Just like the one my neighbor Ruth had for several years - it was in the house when they moved in. She got a new GE about 4 years ago, and celebrates the day she tossed that old thing out. Like mentioned above, it's a WCI (Kelvinator) design that wasn't ever very good.

It probably says "Gourmet Edition by Kenmore" on the silver part of the control panel. Sears sold these in the late 80s and early 90s. They are kind of nice looking, it's too bad they are junk. Also I heard there is practically no insulation above the ovens, so with them on the top gets hot enough to burn you!

Looks like the brushed finish on the top tends to rust as well...

The one Ruth had was a Kenmore, and I remember her saying the top edge got very hot. I never saw any rust on the BC top.

The basic cabinet was used for several brands including Kelvinator, Gibson, Kenmore, Whirlpool, and later Frigidaire and GE. I think the design originated from the mid-late 60's. I'd hope they had some insulation in the doors on the earlier versions, but with WCI , I'd not bet on it.
