Vintage (Frigidaire)fridge(1935)and stove - $150 (Amelia)

A Frigidaire fridge with something on top of it. Assuming this doesn't work, and it probably doesn't, what is the function of whatever it is on top of the fridge? Also, does anyone own a working model like this? No interior fridge pictures equals, alot more work? What year would you estimate this to be, since it has a defrost feature(early example?).

Phil, that's an old medecine cabinet with twin fluroescent tubes on top of the fridge.  Looks like something from the late 40s early 50s.

The ad says it's a 1935 model. It's not too far from me, but I sure have no need for it.
