What's with all these beautiful stoves for sale ?

Seems everyone wants the "Cookie Cutter" Kitchens these days. I think it's all about potential resale of the home. A "stupid " Young couple comes into a house for purchase, and the last thing they want is "Grandma's" or for us older Ladies and Gent's is a home with "stuff" that reminds them of years past. They just don't understand the glory of the years gone by when this country made Great Appliances made of Steel and Porcelain on Enamel !!! These things of years past (even though they survived all those years) are Crap to them. It's all about updating and what they're used to.
I have friends over and they look at my collection and say " What are you doing with all this Old Stuff ?" I tell them that almost all of them still work and after dinner when I load up the Old Machines they are appaulded that I will sit in the same room with them and listen to the "Noise" that they make.

Well that's why we are all here. To appreciate the beauty of these "Mechanical Marvels" of years gone by. As I have said in previous posts, I hope all the Old Colors of the past come back. Sunny Yellow, Turquoise, Sea Foam Green, etc. All these colors made Kitchens fun instead of mundane. Just my Opinion.

I totally agree... it amazes me to watch HGTV shows where the young couples go into a home and always scream that the kitchen needs to be updated... many in very good condition! It is not only sad that many older kitchens will thus be ripped out to be replaced with new cookie cutter kitchens, but also that these young first time buyers consider a new granite counter top/stainless appliance kitchen to be an essential feature that they are entitled to in their first starter home! I loved my Tappan Doughboy stove and Frigidaire Imperial fridge in my first home... though it would have been nice to have had a dishwasher!
