Hi everyone,

A dear friend of mine is helping to set up a historic home at the Henry Ford Museum & Greenfield Village here in Dearborn, Michigan. They are furnishing the kitchen as it was in the house in the 1960's.

The museum is looking for a 1959 Frigidaire refrigerator, in white, preferably with a top freezer to place in the kitchen. According to photos, this was the fridge that was in the house during that period.

They have been searching online but haven't found one yet. If anyone has one they would be interested in selling, or know of any that might be available, please let me know and I will put you in contact with the curator at the museum.

Thank you so much for any assistance you can provide!
Kevin

Because they are taking on the curation of a historic home from Selma, AL which was the font of a huge amount of civil rights activity. The Jacksons were a prominent local Black family whose house was really a crossroads for the Civil Rights movement in the 50s and 60s. The daughter (who was born in roughly 1960) is assisting them in moving the house.

That will be a great addition. It's been maybe 25 years since I last visited GF village and the Henry Ford when my UK relatives were over. They loved it and the museum. Also want to go downtown and ride the new streetcars and see the newly renovated old Michigan Central station.

The range shouldn't be too difficult to locate as they were very well built and still around. A nice fridge will probably be a bit of a task though as they were not built as well as their older designs and as a result, didn't survive in the long term.

I'm assuming working order is not important but appearance is.

Too bad I'm in Canada.... I have an unrestored set of a Sunny Yellow 1959 Custom Imperial 30-inch range and an Imperial Frost-Proof bottom-freezer refrigerator! I could use the $$$ too... I'm kinda broke as the 1958 Cadillac restorations limp on AND I'm stuck with a couple of machines that fellow members here agreed to buy then backed out of.... You know who you are...
