I am looking for a vintage kenmore wringer washer from the late 1940s to the 1950s. they are usually white in the many models they made from the visimatic to the bol. if anyone has a leed on one anywhere obtainable please let me know. thanks Bill

1950s whirlpool built Kenmore wringer washers

Hi Bill, are you looking for a machine that you can rebuild to possibly use? Are you looking for a machine just to look at?

There would be almost no chance that a 1950s wringer washer would still work without a lot of repair work and there’s almost no parts available for whirlpool built ringer washers that’s for sure

If you’re looking for something, you can actually use a late model Speed Queen or Maytag would be a better bet or possibly even a later 60s whirlpool or Kenmore those do occasionally show up that still mostly work.

Cannot recall if posted here in group but have seen a few vintage early Kenmore WWs in ones trawls of auction and other internet sites.

Will give you as other poster states parts for Whirlpool wringer washers of any vintage are not easily found, if at all.

This was one reason went with Maytag WW over Whirlpool or SQ models.

If you want a wringer washer, best to look for a Maytag wringer washer. Whirlpool did make wringer washers at one point, but they weren’t as popular compared to the Maytag wringer washers. Maytag made wringer washers up until 1983, Whirlpool only made them up until the 1970’s.

thanks for the nice words

hey guys, I aleady have a 1950 visimatic that I was able to make work with the help of my good freind "the wrench" if you look up the thread you will see my machine. it is the tol for the year it was made, and has the roundest wringer I have ever seen. I also have a 1964 pink visimatic in my collection. I would like to find even a bol kenmore from the same year as my 1950 machine, as we know kenmore had several models each year. thanks Bill

"Whirlpool did make wringer washers at one point, but they weren’t as popular compared to the Maytag wringer washers."

That may have been true for WP branded wringer washers, but Sears sold plenty of similar machines under Kenmore and Lady Kenmore brands.

Sears had a wide distribution network via its stores and catalog sales which meant they could (and did) move more appliances than many other brands.

IIRC Sears once had good or majority stake in WP and at some point actually sold more "WP" laundry appliances under their own brands than Whirlpool.

Depending upon who one wishes to believe WP/Kenmore wringer washers out performed Maytag's on various levels.

1960's Sears catalog showing wringer washers still being very much on offer.

When it came to wringer washers there were the big three; Maytag, Sears/Kenmore and Speed Queen, everyone else were either niche market or taking scraps left at table.

Post WWII years Whirlpool and others did put more effort it seems into fully automatics. GE was one of first of major appliance brands to get shot of wringers all together.

Don't forget by 1950's or even bit earlier there was a steady strong and growing louder drumbeat from many quarters to kill off wringer washers once and for all. With WWII over and US economy back to factories producing consumer goods including fully automatic washing machines, many simply felt there was no reason for wringer washers with all their inherent safety issues to exist any longer.

Look at that wash action!

While the Maytag round tub WW is no slouch, it largely throws and swishes laundry about more than pulling it under.

I dunno though...

Maybe Eddy needed bit less wash or more water?

Maytag wringer in this YT clip is really moving things down, under and about.

I have a late 40's Kenmore BOL in my collection. It is average in cosmetic appearance with a bit of surface rust here and there. Works perfectly. I even have the booklet that came with it. The owner jotted the delivery date in pencil on the front cover.

Not trying to be a tease. Just saying that there have got to be more out there. A lot of them were made.

if you want to sell....
