Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

B; Nope. The shaking is actually interesting to watch with the lid up and the sound doesn't bother me (not even when I was little and the '86 Westy got off-balance).

If the tub's slamming against the cabinet I shut the machine off and re-distribute.

The first automatic I used/loved was a belt drive Whirlpool. I was loud and would "walk" a little when it went out of balance, but I can't say I was scared. Ma or I would run down to the basement to shut it off and re-distribute the load.

Since then, I've had Maytags, and they have an almost too sensitive out of balance switch.

rumbling dryers ??

We had a late 60's Hotpoint elec dryer when I was growing up and every now and then (seldom), it would start to rumble, yes rumble, very loudly, it sounded like someone beating rapidly on a big drum. I don't know what it was but mom would tear downstairs, shut it off and restart and it would be fine ..............

I grew up with a 1960 Kenmore Model 80. The washer and dryer were in my play room when I was little. The buzzer used to scare the crap out of me and I'd go screaming out of the room. Later, I would open the lid and purposely cause an out-of-balance situation so I could watch the machine go into spin and activate the buzzer. So, I guess my answer is pre- age 6, SCARED. Post- age 6, NOT SCARED.

oh snap!

i remember when our kenmore washer at the old house started up and i jumped and ran twards mom
