I have always washed duvets and bedsacks with 60°C hot water / 1100 or 1200 rpm spin, expecially those I use while camping
No matter they are polyester or feather stuffed, have never had any issue with high temp and spin speed : my feather stuffed nylon bedsack is 25 y.o. and looks brand new despite the average 3 washes per year.

I run them on cotton short in the old sensor w780 or on MI in the W844 (in this case i give them an extra 1200 rpm spin)

My guess is the interim spins help a lot to rinse better and I do want hi speed final spin to have it dried fastly
Why latest machines with "duvets" cycle don't make interim spin ? why do they spin slowly ?

Probably to save water. I'm sure items spun/extracted inthe middle of the cycle/program(me) are more thirsty.

I suspect the lower quality

of the modern machines also has something to do with it.
Those old Miele washers could take handle the tremendous mass in a small volume, the newer washers use the electronics so they are never confronted with it.

Just a guess, tho' - I also wash my pillows and down comforters in my machine and spin dry at 1200rpm with intermittent high spins between rinses. Just plain gets more ick out.
