*LOL*

Have come to the conclusion it is time to weed down my vintage detergent stash. Am doing so with a heavy heart but it must be done for several reasons.

First the AEG/OKO-Lavamat is very unhappy with anything but modern European detergents that are both low froth and clean rinsing. Can get away with the older Persil 59, and a few others such as All with the "three B's" but everything else seems to cause problems.

Also one has a very large and growing stash of modern Persil and other European detergents. Find these give great results in both the Miele and AEG washers so why keep the old stuff around to moulder? I certainly won't get to much of it in my lifetime especially as one has the stash of vintage Persil soap powder and detergent to work through, so why not share the wealth.

Am trying to work through that huge box of All with "Bleach Borax and Brighteners", but it is taking forever. Actually do not use it as much as one should because it has a tendency to tint certain fabrics blue, and or cause staining. Indeed it seems elastic bands on undergarments on most everything laundered in the stuff are now blue...

Will post in the Shopper's Square forum soon as have sorted out what is going and minimum prices. FleaPay again sent me another free listing offer but may just deal with the group if demand warrants.

Off the top of my head know have a the follow that probably is going up for the bid. You can see pictures in this older thread: http://www.automaticwasher.org/cgi-bin/TD/TD-VIEWTHREAD.cgi?39129

Box of Dash
Box of Bold with enzymes (from Canada printed in both English and French)
Bars of P&G White Laundry Soap
Bars of Kirkman's Borax Soap
Bars of Armour's Tub Soap (missing wrappers due to a leaking bottle stored above)
A few boxes of Surf detergent
A few boxes of coin vend sizes of Ultra Biz (old formula)
Box of Cold Power detergent (am told this stuff is highly sudsing so never bothered to open and try even though it is was Mother's brand when one was a child).

This is all off the top of one's head. Have to dig things out from under beds, in closets, and God only knows where else have stashed to sort the lot out.

Anyone interested you know where to find one. *LOL*

Launderess, it's comforting to know I'm not the only one in downsizing mode. In fact, I'll probably start a thread about it over the Labor Day weekend to hear from others who may be doing (or have done) the same.

No doubt you'll find plenty of interested parties for vintage laundry products within the AW family.

Thanks All To Pieces For The Interest

Neither Ivory Snow nor Dreft are going *anywhere* *LOL*.

Just love the scent of IS as it takes one back. Deft is what one does one's dainties and very fine linens. Like it because it is really is nothing but SLS without builders, bluing, OBA, etc.....

The Cold Power is of interest to me.  I think it would work great on our church communion linens.  Does it contain STPP?  How about the Burst and LaFrance?

Downsizing:

Really would love to keep much of my detergent collection but quite honestly far too many of them just aren't suited to use in the Miele and certainly not the AEG Lavamat. These are the high dilution detergents like Bold, Cold Power etc... Surf actually works pretty well in the Miele providing one watches the dosage, but don't think will ever use all of the stuff. So it is time to get some cash from my stash as it were.

That plus Persil and the other European detergents are simply streets ahead of the vintage products (with or without STPP). That one has been able to stock up cheaply has generated a pretty decent supply.

Not good with words here but I'll try...I don't know you Launderess in fact I just recently joined , but I've been reading here for months. Its actually rather sad that you are downsizing your detergents..so many of your posts refer to your collection and I can feel the pride you have in this unique collection. For many months I've thought of you as the lady with ALL the laundry detergents lol...I guess I just feel a bit bad I know how you must feel parting with some of these..last year I realized I just had no more room for a collection of tea pots and had to downsize much the same way you are but I remind myself they were just things...anyway good luck I'm sure many here will be excited to get some of these detergents...I don't have any vintage detergents so if there's any left I just may purchase one...good luck Cheryl
