Yesterday, driving by a used appliance store nearby, I decided to stop in and peek through the fence. On one side, the stuff they would recondition and resell in their store -- nearly all DD WP/KM. On the other side, stuff slated for the Krusher. Between 2 refrigerators, I notice a knob on a machine that indicated something Classic was in there. With much squinting and craning of the neck, I concluded that it was a '58 Deluxe Frigidaire. I quickly called Steve Riley and we started discussing. He wisely pointed out to me that this well could also be a '59 or '60, as these BOL machines all kinda had a similar console. I noticed that it still had the "Deluxe" emblem on the upper front left corner. Hmmmmm.

They opened at 8am this morning, and I was there at 830am. The Maytag, WCI Kelvi dryer, Magic Chef plastic tub washer, along with several other refrigerators in front of it were already loaded on the Krusher Express. Went inside, paid for the machine, the boys in the lot helped load it into my RAV4, and off we went. It is indeed a WD-59.

The machine is surprisingly in good condition underneath. No signs of rust, oil or leakage of any sort. The 3-Ring Agitator is in tact, but there are rust issues with the inner tub. Both the timer and the water temp knobs turn easily. It is on the carport, along with some other goodies for which I need to find a place.

Hopefully, pictures will be posted this evening, right here, on your friendly Imperial Forum thread!

Hey Peter -

What a cool find! You gotta love that it still has the 3 ring agitator. I found a 59 WCD a few weeks ago, although I'm not sure how soon it will be coming home. Looking forward to the pictures - Enjoy!

It is indeed encouraging to know that one can still stumble across these old treasures. The BOL's were all over the place back in the day, and it just seems right to see them again. They may not have had all the bells and whistles, and the spin was not exactly "Rapidry" but many a housewife back in the day was glad to have one for those daily loads of diapers.
I hope this one is easily restored.
Congratulations Peter!

It was too dark when I got home last night and the flash on the camera distorted the way it looks. Will try to get home tonight before the sun goes down to get decent pics.

Well, I'm just dying to see pictures of your new WD-59! Do I need to fly down to Atlanta and take pictures myself??, tap...tap...tap.

Y'all need to take a breath!

Pics snapped today in the morning light. Will be posted this evening when I get home. Home computer is having some dial issues, so please stand by.
