Oh yeah, those old AC motors will run *forever*. I know places with 50 year old ones in daily use.

Wow!

I really like the way "Frigidaire" is cast into the motor end plate; it shows a real appreciation of design and also a feeling of pride on the part of the manufacturer. It looks to me like the little right-angle tube is for oiling, which means the motor was meant to be serviced. Nobody likes having to have an applicance serviced, but imagine how much nicer for the owner of the appliance if the motor looks like this instead of being just a generic grey motor!

I like older motors as well-they are certainly built better than new ones.At one workplace I was at in WashDC-the building was built in 1939-lots of older motors and equipment-Lots of "Crocker-wheeler" motors-and some up to 700Hp!Sadly they fell to the cutting torch in 1997-however still some older GE motors there-and still in use.

Too bad that attitude as died out, can't hardly buy anything that is well built anymore, and I just don't see pride of workmanship anymore.

I wonder what this powered, or did Fridgidaire sell motors for some kind of commercial use, like in a factory or something?

Frigidaire in the early days....

1918--through the mid Twenties (at least according to ads I have seen-) sold both conversion kits; "Make your icebox a Genuine Frigidaire!" and all-in-one refrigerators.

This is more than likely from a conversion kit.
