We went to a couple of estate sales Sat morning, and came up with a few goodies, A nearly new Kuhn Rikon pressure frying pan,a Kenmore griddle, a like new West Bend Electro Maid frypan ,a GE frying pan and then we went to visit Ron Jones in Rockingham NC and he gave me a beautiful turquoise Sunbeam frying pan.

Kenmore

Stovetop griddle, it has a rim underneath to hold it steady on the burner, got the book for the range it came with also, early 60s.

Electro Maid

These were sold at cookware parties for West Bend cookware, Miracle Maid,Aristo Craft ETC, the book is dated 1961, and im about sure it has never been used., it is not tefelon but a hard anodized coating called Gem Coat.As you can see, the cover can be used on the frypan, or the platter/ cutting board that came with it.

And last, but not least,

We went to Ron Jonses house this weekend, I had to perform surgery on his 1958 pink Custom Imperial Frigidaire range, I am happy to report it was a success, it is now in complete working order, even the clock and the Speed Heat as well as all signal lights! He gave me a nice Sunbeam skillet in lovely turquoise!

No doubt about it...

When it comes to finding the best vintage things, you've got the Midas touch.

Congratulations on your new finds.

Some nice finds there, Hans, that turquoise Sunbeam is a rare bird! It will go nicely on the shelf with your yellow one. I don't see many electric skillets around here anymore, the estate sales are getting thinner and newer, most of the vintage stuff is likely chucked out when grandma moves into a condo.

Tell us more about the pressure frying pan. Was this primarily for frying chicken and the like or could you also do potatoes, etc. as well? I've never used a pressure cooker and pressure frying seems dangerous and scary. LOL

Wonderful Finds

You will love your Kuhn Rikon. I have the lower dome 2.5 quart, the first of my KR collection. It is so old that it is of the pre-induction construction, but it is great for lots of things if you are cooking for one or two, whether as a pressure cooker or as a wonderful skillet. The quilted bottom surface on the inside makes for wonderful cooking performance and that base is as flat as can be, important for best efficiency on an electric element. When I first moved up here in 1976 and everything was put into storage back home, one of the first things I bought was a 2.5 qt. Mirro Matic.

Those Lektro Maid skillets and their trays go for good money on eBay.
