We actually had time to hit the thrift stores this weekend, and didn't have too bad of luck either.
First, from the Unique Thrift store a few blocks from Michael's house this Osterizer Classic VIII blender, missing its lid but otherwise intact. I bought it just for the jar...
I have seen more of this model Osterizer than any other, they must have sold tons of them!!
Today we went to Goodwill over by the mall, and rescued this Montgomery Wards-by-Hoover shampoo polisher, complete with all its brushes and pads and original box for the whopping price of $2.99 The condition is just about flawless!

Osterizer glam shot

Needs a scrubbing, but otherwise in good shape. I think this might make a lovely lamp!

you can accessorize it beautifully

The polisher's extra stuff, all of it looks unused...
The box has the original price tag on it, but no date. It was sold at a Wards store in Kansas City MO, for $89.99

Yay!

Fabulous finds, Jeff! Even better that it has the box. :)
Is there any reference, maybe on the shipping label-- that it came from North Canton?

Love the Blender, too! Yay for blender lamps!

yes

The bottom of the box has Hoover's address on it, and it also has Hoover's model number on it F40W9

You know Jeff today at one of the sales I saw a Sears Kenmore that looked almost exactly like a Floor-a-Matic, same switch and all. The brushes were no where to be found, but I had no idea Hoover made those for some many others!

Today was a bust for me.

Congratulations on your great finds. What good deals!
Two estate sales for me today - both were busts.
I found a 1950s SONORA B&W console which was partially covered with mold, but that was about it.

Thanks

Robert,
Hoover made these for Penneys too, I grabbed this today because it was so cheap, and in such excellent condition.

Greg, I see lights where the blender is concerned too... now for a trip to Home Depot for supplies!

Jeff it looks like you and Michael really hit the jackpot today. That Hoover polisher is beautiful. What fun.

Thanks Terry

Thats the only Wards/Hoover combo I have, and its in such nice shape too!

PaulG: Lets go thrifting sometime, in numbers there is always something to be found for everyone!

Congrats!

Nice finds Jeff. As everyone has noted above, that floor polisher is MINT. What a deal. The Midwest is looking more and more appealing.

Louis, you are too funny, but I have been witness to the making of a lamp out of a Hoover Convertible and a model 63!

Mike B: yes, the midwest is appealing, and calling your name!!

Pete: Sure I can take pictures, the process is pretty simple once you get the hang of it. For my Secret Santa person this past year I made a lamp out of a 16 speed Hamilton Beach blender, I was very pleased with the outcome(I hope the recipient was too!) but the HB blender is way more complicated to dismantle than the Osterizer. On models such as the Classic VIII you can use the on/off blender switch for the light switch.

Toggles: its been way too long, we need to have a chat!
