Does anyone have a westinghouse washer and have tried this?
And if so did it really get out 2 cups of sand?

Check out the control tower, of course it failed brillantly Was surprised that the filter-flo didn't do better.

All the top loaders were solid tub machines. Note a Whirlpool or Kenmore were not used in the test. I imagine they would have done quite well. I remember Greg and I talking on the phone about this once, he had heard that the water pressure wan't all that great either so the Frigidaire and Norge were "handicapped" that's for sure. Solid tub machines just dind't do well along the coast with sandy beaches around.

What is the first washer analyzed? I recognize the 2nd and 3rd.

My moms speed-queen was worthless when it came to sand and farm dirt, you had to scoop it out with your hand from the bottom every time you washed work pants.

I would agree.
My mom had 2 Speed Queens. When it came to doing laundy from when we came home from the beach.
They sucked
