Westinghouse Roaster Dishes
Previous posters are correct when they say that these dishes are often mislabeled. I just purchased a complete set of 3 (2 small covered, 1 large open) on ebay that said nothing about "roaster" anywhere in the ad. I just searched under "vintage Westinghouse". If my exhaustive research is accurate, these dishes were made of a heat resistant, tempered type glass both before and after the war years. I have evidence from a 1945 Owner's Manual that must have been made of a porcelain or opaque-type milk glass during the war years by the Hall China company who also made their (Westinghouse's) refrigerator ware. The 1947 Owner's Manual, virtually identical in all other respects, however depicts clear glass roaster ware. Some of this was made by the Jeanette Glass Company of Jeanette, Westmoreland County, PA so it also pays to search under Jeanette glass as I have, in the past, seen some roasterware new in the box under that heading. I also have a roaster dish stamped "Made by Pyrex for Westinghouse" also in clear glass. Regardless of manufacturer, I believe the "circle W" logo always appears on proper roasterware including the lids. In my years of roaster collecting, I have never come across a Westinghouse with a hinged lid- that is probably a Nesco, Everhot, or Kenmore and I cannot comment on what is correct for these brands nor who made them, but dimensionally, the same stuff would probably fit. FYI, the dimensions for Westinghouse stuff is as follows: Large uncovered dish: 10 1/4" x 6 3/8" x 2 5/8". Smaller covered dish 5" x 9" x 3 1/2"
