Westy L5 - changer repaired, reinstalled and running!

It was a very busy weekend! The new septic system at the house in Ogden is now installed, and for fun, we decided to redo our back deck. Somehow, however, I managed to pick up the speed changer with its re-welded brackets and re-install it. This time, I managed NOT to make the speed changer drop off when I tried the spin cycle! The video in the link shows the rear of the machine as the spin solenoid engages.

Here's the wash tub spinning at high speed. That spin solenoid is NOISY... Hubby said he thought a plane had crashed in the basement... I think I may add some sound insulation blankets to the washer cabinet before I close it up. I wonder if the replacement solenoid I found is a particularly noisy one compared to an original Westy one... Guess I'll find out when I get that Canadian one up and running again!

And I just couldn't resist...

I had to try the washer with at least some water in it! I must have watched it for a good half hour, even though the pump gasket is still leaking! I did it! I made that kinda sad looking 1950 Laundromat work again!!
Unfortunately hubby and I are leaving on vacation tomorrow night and will only be back on October 10th, so I won't have a chance to finish it up before then. BUT I have a package waiting for me at the post office and I am betting this is the pump drive spring, Weigh to Save scale and other parts that Steve 1-18 coralled for me! Boy I can't wait to get back, now!!!
