Very funny maytagbear

Ok. So I've been on the planet for a FEW years. LOL. But you don't have to rub it in. No, the reason I asked is because my family purchased a Hamilton-Beach mixer back in 69'. The mixer is history but the stainless steel bowl that came with it lives on. I use it all the time and there is no discloration, pitting, etc. It looks exactly the same as it did back then. I kid you not. The mixer really did last a long, long time, too. It was an awesome product. Don't know about the quality of their products, now though.

Durable goods

These are my Iconic American brands that I remember finding in any home or office. Many of these, sadly have fallen from their place of prestige and due to their quality falling off, and subsequently the loyalty to the brand isn't there anymore

Chevrolet Impala: The iconic family car in the 60's and 70's with over 1 million a year being made back then in a variety of body styles (station wagons, sedans, coupes, convertibles), until the gas crisis made big cars like this undesireable. Just about every American over the age of 30 can remember taking a road trip in one at some point in their life!

Briggs & stratton lawnmowers: Cuts hundreds of square miles of yards, still the most popular mower and power equip. brand despite lots of foreign competition.

Maytag: the classic American washer throughout the 60's,70's and 80's....you guys know the rest of this story!

Carrier air conditioners: Cooling millions of homes and offices. They invented air conditioning, and continue to be the biggest seller of AC equipment with the design of non fluorcarbon air conditioner systems.

RCA televisions: They created color TV and was a premier TOL brand until GE bought them out and sold the electronics division to french company Tomson electronics. Now they are a low-end, discount store brand known for some of the poorest reliablity in the industry.

IBM computers: They invented the personal computer that's the basis of our windows based computers we use today, but a few years ago sold the PC business to a Chinese company.

Black & Decker: Electric power tools. Still very popular, but the BOL nameplate to their own popular TOL DeWalt nameplate.

Motorola Cellular phones: They invented the cell phone and the supporting equipment behind the phones. They still are regarded as the best phones in the industry, but have recently faced a lot of foreign competition from Korean and Japanese companies.

Glastron motorboats: They invented the fiberglass boat in 1958. They produced small, trailerable, inexpensive, maintence free but well-built high-performance boats that were the most popular until recent competition.

Hammond Organs: Laurens Hammond invented an electro-mechanical orgain in 1934. It became the most commonly heard instrument in every music genre. They found their way into TV soap opera studios, ice-skating rinks, churches, and even homes. Even lighter weight, Fully electronic organs have taken their place, but not their popularity, as their unmistakable sound is still highly sought after!

Bell & Howell movie cameras and projectors: Found on the shoulders of cinematographers everywhere, and in schools, projection booths and anywhere motion pictures were shot or shown. They basically dissapeared with the advent of video.

My dad had a Chevrolet Impala in the 60's. It was a black beauty!!! It was the sport coupe with bucket seats. Top of the line with all the extras. He also had a Bell & Howell Super 8 movie camera.

Just kidding maytagbear

I was just being humerous. Keeps the thread lively. You answered perfectly. Thanks. Really appreciate it. Really do!
