What do ye think of Method laundry detergent?

Is it any good? I notice more and more stores are carrying it here in the Boston area. Any testimonies?

I bought the Sweet Water version because that was the only one available in the small bottle here. I think it cleans well, but the fragrance is very strong and will stay on everything, no matter how little you use or whether you use it in a front or top loader. Don't even think of washing dishtowels in that stuff! I kind of like it on sheets, but it will not be a regular in my house. The unscented version might be better.

For a liquid, it's ok. It tends to leave a softer feel than, say, Tide HE liquid. I haven't tried it on whites or stained items, though, just things like bath towels and throw rugs with latex backing. Only tried the original stuff in the blue bottle. Still have a bottle or two on the shelf, have moved on to Safeway Select Ultra HE 2x free/clear liquid for bath towels. No fragrance, and leaves things relatively soft. I buy the Safeway stuff when it's on sale. Last time I got a bottle for $2.99 ea. Can't remember if it's a 32 or 64 dose version, though.

Haven't tried Method yet. I hear they are a gay company so that's reason enough to support them. My partner insists that Tide is the only thing to use but that seems to be an opinion he adopted once we bought our Duet pair. I prefer to try out different brands to see what works best. Currently I have a bottle of All (small and) Mighty 3x that is of manageable size and has a small cap that's easier to work with when dumping it into the dispenser on the machine. Can't really say if it's doing a better or worse job than Tide at this point.

Anyone have any input on my All Mighty detergent? Gotta love the name and I wonder why All didn't come up with it sooner.

Also, I did see a lot of powders still on the shelves but couldn't find a single one with the he designation. I'd like to try a he powder in the Duet but have yet to come across one.

Since it's supposedly a gay company, my partner might be willing to give Method a chance. He buys their other products, after all . . . no pun intended.

I thought so too but apparently not. The Method site lists CVS, Wegmans, Food Lion, Lowes, and Office Depot (!) among other stores that carry Method products in my area, although I have not checked out any of those stores directly.

If you are looking for a powder HE detergent in the stores, Tide HE is probably the only one, unless you include the Sears HE powder in the bucket, which I really like.

I personally wouldn't buy it again. I used it in both top and front loaders and I found it very sudsy in both, and not great and rinsing out. I had to decrease the amount I used (I have soft water in both locations) to control the foam, but then noticed its stain-removing effectiveness dwindled.

I really didn't care for the fragrance at all anyway, so I'm not sure there's a reason for me to repurchase.

Method products seem to be on sale everywhere here, now!

I've never tried their laundry detergent but the eucalyptus mint tub and tile spray cleaner and the lavender lemongrass air freshener are fab, to the nth degree...

I first got Method about three years ago at Costco - in a 3-pack, of course. Still on the first bottle, I think. The fragrance is a little strong. I *think* they have a fragrance free version now, but haven't tried it.

Don't know if they are gay-owned, but they make a big deal on their website about the marriage of form and function or some such in the shape of the bottle and the 3x concentrated detergent. The bottle is nice but nothing to get overheated about.

i've been using it for 3 years now. I really like it.
One cap full in the Neptunes at the laundromat get a full load all clean.

Method~

I love Method products, especially the Granite counter cleaner,dish soap and hand soap. They also make a wonderful "almond scented" wood floor cleaner. All Method products are naturally derived and non toxic.

My cleaning lady tells me this is the best she has used yet on wood floors and is definately worth the extra money.
One the downside, I do not recommend Method's laundry products. The scent of the laundry detergent is VERY loud and the cleaning ability I would say is average at best.
The fabric softener also is a disappointment IMHO.

As far as being gay owned, Method is based in San Francisco, CA and the founders are two college friends
I am told they are indeed gay and in their early 30's.

Thanks for the Method input. I think I'll give it a whack, provided I can find a mild scent or unscented. I always feel that I am not using enough of the ultra concentrated detergents. I feel like no cleaning will take place unless at least half a cup is dumped in. Have never used All Mighty, Oxydolfan. Washabear, I love Sears HE, but I can never use just one scoop! (Scoop and a half, at least!)

Before you vote for a Republican, just remember the Court system. The Texas Sodomy ruling could be overturned if a Republican President appoints more "strict constructionist" justices to the Supreme Court. Individual cases involving partner rights, adoption, etc, would not go well for gay and lesbian citizens with "conservative (read bigoted)" judges in federal courts and regional Appeals Courts.

I am not surprised about many people's feelings about Obama. I figured that people who focused so much disapproval on a woman candidate would not be jumping to vote for a Black man either. And, please don't try to tell me it's just Hillary Clinton. There is just as much misogyny, if not more, than racism in this society. The white, heterosexual male power structure will tolerate no threats, even if its only justification is "that is the way we have always done things."

I don't get how Clinton's campaign seems to be imploding. I know Bill has said some stupid things to turn people off and there's no question that the Clinton camp has taken some cheap shots at Obama while the reverse hasn't happened. I'm OK with either one but feel Hillary is the one who actually has a plan, not just wonderful sounding concepts. We absolutely CANNOT allow the repugnicans to continue to run this country into the ground economically--China has us by the balls already--or to erode our international relationships even further than the idiot currently in the White House has so effectively managed to do.
