A difference

On this one the lower slot is the programmer and the top one is the store- on earlier models like Mikes they are the other way round....

Calling Paul, Calling Paul ......

Is this another "missing" model? I dont remember of John D has one of these or not. At this rate the whole of the Keymatic series will soon have been rescued, I think we only have the second series wide body (with powder drawer) to go :)

Congratulations to you Seamus on snapping up this rarity, I hope that it proves to be a runner for you. Looks like we will be needing a truck for the next run to Chester LOLOLOLOL

Fantastic!

Nice to have contacts in the trade! Was it still in use by its previous owners?

Very special indeed, guess that means you've now got the first and last of the breed! Glad it's found an understanding home in its 30t year!

From Hoover - Who Better!!!

Congratulations Seamus, looks as good as you say and after hearing it spin I`ve heard worse bearings...LOl, shouldnt be a problem to find a set & pop them in!!! And its the one with the elusive BLACK keyplate, does look very classy!!!

Yes we do now have nearup the full line-up of keymatics between collectors both here and worldwide!!!

Al, the one you are thinking of was Mathews Selecamatic A3114, which he brought up to John D`s house while we where there!!! it does match the A3110, 3112,3114 range being the bronzy black bezels etc...

It is one of the "missing" models, theres one in a house 2 miles from me, I saw it when I went to pick up a junior,it was a second washer as the main one was a Hoover Quatrro!!

Yes

Seamus, yes its the one I`ve mentioned many times, I did leave details, but I couldnt remember where it was as I lost her details, it was 2 sisters who had come to live together after their hubby died and where selling duplicates, EXCEPT the washers, the A3112 was in a scullery nr the back door and her sister (who`s house it was) had kept the newer machine as well!!!

I`ve racked my brains thinking was it the A3112 or the 3062 and as soon as I saw yours I remebered because they had flotex carpet like whats in the hallway pic,and as soon as I remembered that I realised also where it was so, just goes to show, there is stuff still around!!!

Enjoy, Mike

ps, another OOvah Holy Grail turned up at the weekend in Brum, will reveal all later!!!

About bloody time - its a 'Smoother Hoover' Keymatic

Fantastic news Seamus.

As you know, from our comms across the afternoon, I am absolutely overjoyed that you have found one of these.

As Mike says, it is indeed one of the holy grail machines, being one that few seem to have seen and one that Hoover itself seemed to ignore in all its advertising (along with the A3114 Selectamatic 1100).

Your little snippet of a picture on my phone did have me thinking whether it was something a little bit different from the old A3110.
Thanks for putting me out of my misery, as I dont think I could have survived the afternoon had you not revealed what it was.

I did have a problem with people in the office asking me why I was grinning so much!

Totally thrilled for you and Matt to have such a great machine and in such good looking nick! The facia looks lovely, mores the better really as blemishes would show up with it being uninterupted by writing.

Bearings shouldnt be a problem for you either.

Very happy for you - perhaps this proves the third time lucky rule, what with the two recent near misses.
Ceratinly the A3112 trumps both of those.

My spreadsheets are updated and the A3112 is now officially represented in the ranks of preserved machines.

Paul
p.s below is the only time I have ever seen the A3112 in an advert! not exactly in your face is it.

How do Al.

As yourself and Mike mentions, nearly all the basic bodystyles of Hoover Keymatic are represented.

To the best of my knowledge the basic styles and their UK based owners goes something like this (apologies for any omissions):

3224 (slanted) ... ricky, mathew and mike.
3226 (slanted) ... keith, mathew and seamus.
3203 (widebody) ... mathew and mike.
3243H (matchbox) ... gary.
A3008 (brushed) ... mike.
A3062 (new magic) ... mathew.
& finally
A3112 (smoother) ... seamus.

The missing machine is the 3223H widebody (shown below), with the powder drawer. I will try and pluck up the courage to go and ask whether the one I remember as a kid is still going.

Come to think of it, there is a 3223H in existence. Was discovered last year, but has disappeared back under the radar!

There are then two more Keymatics yet to be preserved, but these are derivitives of other models in the form of:

3203H ... as per Mathew's 3203, but with hot & cold fill rather than just cold.
&
A3050 ... as per Gary's 3243H and sold by the Electricity Board Shops. Only difference was the facia, which (correct me if wrong Mathew) had a white upper panel and a brown lower panel.

So, 7 down and 1 (or 3 depending on your outlook) to go!
Paul

ACE!

Seamus I am staggered and pleased as punch that you have such a rare and excellent example of this beautiful machine.

It does indeed add to the keymatic collection, the styling simularities with selectamatic make it so special.

Brilliant news and thanks for sharing it

Gary

The bearings
maybe the crush washer has crushed right down? the 3060 i got had a sloppy drum, i replaced the crush washer with a new one and that was it sorted

Cheers Guys......

Ive kinda been on cloud 9 all day with this- Matt is pretty impressed to lol....
