I just encountered.
Someone in Wallington, NJ.... 20-30mins from me, posted
the following on CL, 12 days ago:
"Entire Kitchen Full of 1950's Metal Geneva Kitchen Cabinets. First Reasonable Offer Will Take them. Must be removed by purchaser. Entire Kitchen. Excellent condition. Original color. Has wire racks, ice cube trays, built in refrigerator, only minor rust by sink area. Would be perfect for a retro reno or basement reno."
This was an all Turquoise Kitchen.
I responded to the Ad, this past weekend, as it is still up as of this writing, and made an offer. I was responded to, on Tues 11/26 and was told that they want $1500 for the whole kitchen. WHY say make an offer?
So I wrote back, asking if they would be willing to sell a portion separately. I wouldn't be able to use the Wall Fridge or another section of cabinets, separate from the main counter section. I got a response today, saying call my Father, he is the one selling the kitchen, and he can tell you better when he can show it.
I called the father immediately, and he said everything was taken out and is in the basement,as the house is under renovation. "You can take all or part of it, whatever you want". I told him I wanted the Oven Cabinet and all the cabinets to the end of the counter, which included the corner and sink cabinets--top and bottom. He said come on down and look at them.
I went down right after the phone call, and all that is there is the One section of cabinets, that would have been on the opposite side of the kitchen from the appliances. JUST what I had NO interest in. I said to him that I told him over the phone that I wanted the Oven cabinet, etc. He said "Oh. You did want that? That was hard to remove, so we bent it all up and Threw it out." He threw out the sink Cabinet too, as now it had Alot of rust -- the Ad said "minor rust".
The remainder of the cabinets + the Fridge were already gone.
He tried to convince me to take an under counter cabinet, and that I could easily
take out the draws and use it for a Sink cabinet......Really?
SO....HOW is this an entire kitchen???
What a waste of a trip, emails etc. It gets me ticked off, but I know you
"CAN'T RATIONALIZE an IRRATIONAL THOUGHT PROCESS".
Who even knows what these CL Scammers are thinking.
