Great article, very true,  Where are the great innovations in kitchen appliances today?

Flairs might not be for everyone, but I have to believe there is a market out there for a great product like this.

And given the family resemblance to the original . . .

. . . especially the 5-over-5 number keypad on the control panel, they could have called the freestanding induction model the iTouch-N-Cook.

It would be nice to see something new and with some pizazz rather than more and more of the same old thing. Like cars and suv's they all basically look-alike. Ran across this on the page link above.

I saw that picture of the wall hung unit a couple of years ago, looks interesting.  I really liked that link in the original post with the total top induction cooktop, really neat.

Those total top induction cooktops or flexzone cooktops are sold here in Europe by Miele and V-Zug, maybe by others too. I had a look at the American Miele site, but they don't have them.

Those wall hung units are cute. You could even make something like that with some cheap one burner models like this one. Not as nice perhaps but I bet much cheaper. This model is available here for 40 euros.

I did see one of those total top induction cooktops a few years ago at one of the big appliance stores but I can't recall if it was Bosch/THermador or Miele. I was thinking Bosch but their flexzone isn't quite the same thing, more of a bridge burner setup and not the whole top where it follows your pan.

Just seems like induction still isn't getting any big push from the manufacturers over here. When I poked around HD and Lowes last Saturday I could only find two, a Frigidaire and a K.A out of probably 20 to 30 stoves on display at each. Bestbuy had only one model.

It was most likely Miele with the flexzone. BSH has nothing like it on the market here either.

I wonder what kind of policy is behind the lack of induction products on the North American market. Do they think they still can earn enough money with ceramic cooktops? Or do they just lack the vision to come with new products?
