What would be your dream vintage washer dryer that you would like to own again as daily drivers ?

Hello to all aw members,

What would be your dream vintage washer dryer set that you would loves to own again as daily drivers or searching for me in my case i would say (*will be post in 2 pictures) would be these 2 sets while growing up inglis superb washer with matching dryer or this whirlpool set including the matching dryer as during my teen years we had the washer (pic number1) but not the matching dryer.

My answer to your question would be:

1) Some of the vintage (circa 1960's-70's) Maytag washer and dryer

or

2) Hitachi twin tub (ca 1970) coupled with portable Hoover dryer..

I wish I had my mom's almond Maytag that I bought for her in 1992! Two speeds, 4 wash/rinse temperature combinations (Hot/Warm, Hot/Cold, Warm/Cold, Cold/Cold; no Warm/Warm) and a vertical slide lever for the infinite water level control!

A reg. cap. w/ lg. cap. features! It had a bleach & fabric softener, as well... There was a flood in the basement in 2003, after which it kept blowing fuses, so it got replaced w/ a matching TOL Maytag washer & dryer set in 2006; the old white reg. cap. Maytag dryer which had two temps, Reg., Perm Press & No Heat settings and was Timed Only; No Automatic Drying...

Then again, if only I could go back to that avocado Bradford washer & dryer set just to see what REALLY must'a been wrong with it & what my mom just admittedly did not like, but my dad had to but it 'cause he worked for GRANT'S...

The washer for it at least got replaced w/ a 3 water level/3 temp. Reg. & Perm. Press 2 Cycle 1 Speed white Maytag, that we'd gotten rid of to make way for that newer one in almond...

I would need all 3 of these and not in any particular order.  Juyst want them in my daily laundry arsenal.  WCI65.  Although these are RickR's 66 set, they're identical in basic look of panels and cycle/option buttons.

A Custom Imperial 1/18 but it has to be the year that the 3-speed for ex-slow agitation was offered.

And finally

Maytag 806 or 808 pair.  My preference would be the versions of the 806 Center dial that had the big load dryer.  Reason being?  I prefer the better functionality performance and flexibility of the dryness control buttons as well as regular and delicate heat setting buttons.  Not sure there wass any version of that Big Load dryer that had a lighted control panel.  Although I'd take the older D806 dryer too if that was the only way I could have lighted control panels.  I love vintage, but if I had my choice, I'd opt. for best performance and flexibility asnd functionality of what the product line offered in its run.  And in these examples, they're the best as far as I"m concerned.  Maytag and Frigidaire being my most favorite.  Probably because these are the two brands my parnts would have never bought when I was growing up.  And I've already "lived" with GE, Norge, and Kenmore--ho hum. 

 

And did anyone notice they're all TOL?  Why compromise lol.

 

And thanks goes to RickR and PhilR for having photos of the machines I could have a representative of what I'd want.  And since I love front loaders, would ahve to make space for a TOL 1957 Bendix Duomatic somewhere in the dwelling lol.

Mine would be a Frigidaire 1-18 washer and dryer in Poppy red or Avacado....

For me it would be the set in my profile picture.
The TOL General Electric Filter Flo washer with mini wash and matching Timeline dryer, this is the set my grandmother got new in 1966 and had until 2001, I was absolutley in love with this set.
Oh, I'd prefer the washer to be a Suds Saver if possible

For Me....

....It would be the '65 Lady Kenmore I owned for a time around 1980. If I had one again, I would want it with the matching dryer I searched for without success at the time.

As much as I love my Maytag 806 pair for its versatility and durability, the Lady Ks of that era had a luxury feel and sound second to none. Even small experiences like putting supplies into the dispenser were made special; the dispenser's door was solid brushed metal that felt very upscale.

pdub has probably the ultimate Lady K pair from this era; his are turquoise. I have the photos carefully stashed on my hard drive. Sigh.

For me, collector of problem children...

80's Raytheon Speed Queen set. My favorite aunt had a pair, and I just loved the look of them, and the sound of them chugging away in their little nook in the kitchen. Her set was still working when she traded up to a new set of Kenmores 15 years later.

I know alot of people don't like these, but they played such a big part of my childhood. Many happy afternoons were spent at her house, helping her clean as she told my wide eyed lil self stories of her latest or past exploits. (She was the "wild" aunt, who many in the family say I turned out like, lol).

Yogitunes happens to have the exact set, and here is a pic of his, lucky guy that yogi..[this post was last edited: 8/18/2012-17:14]
