hello to all aw members,

what would you do if the dream house you purchuse or rented was equip with genuine vintage gm appliance from stove to 1-18 washer with machtching dryer would you negociate to purchuse said appliances from the landlord in the case of a rental or keep the appliance if you bought the house and negociate with the owner to buy the appliance with the house?

Well of course I’d ask for the appliances to come with the house! When my husband and I sold our last place a couple years ago, the buyers really wanted these. I was willing to let them go, but my husband (who doesn’t get any of this appliance stuff at all) knew how much I love this stuff and said no to the sellers. So, I still have this great MT set, although not as my indoor daily drivers anymore...

Once upon a time...

In the 'Beacon Hill' subdivision of the Montreal suburb of Beaconsfield, just about all the homes included a full set of the real deal, GM-built Frigidaire appliances. Better still, most of 'em were turquoise...LOL
I had several friends and classmates who lived there - in the late 70s, most of the houses were down to the built-in ranges and ovens and a few refrigerators (one house had a 30-inch Flair - it was the first time I saw this model!). But in one house, the whole shebang was still around and still working! They had the double-oven built-in oven and cooktop, refrigerator, and dishwasher - all Custom Imperials and all turquoise. They had a Frigidaire disposer but I can't recall which model. But best of all, they had a Custom Imperial laundry pair in turquoise. John (combo52) has a set like the ones I remember in the museum in Beltsville.
There are still a few surviving ovens and cooktops - Phil (PhilR) got a set from this neck of the woods and I've seen them turn up on the local on-line classifieds. No more dishwashers or laundry pairs, alas...
