On the thread where I spilled my guts about the demise of my Whirlpool World Washer, there was discussion on "using enough detergent."

Does anyone mind expanding on this? I'm getting a new Kenmore portable (i.e. Whirlpool), From the start, I want to make sure to use it correctly, not abuse it. Then again, since it's new, probably not using it at all would be the safest! :)

Soooo....any advice, tips, etc., on detergents, fabric softeners, general proper usage would be most welcome.

Mega thanks!

I always

start with label amounts, and then adjust from there.

I do use less for small loads, and a little more for big or heavily soiled loads. For big, heavily soiled loads, I use the prewash setting.

A prewash can be done by using detergent, but no softener, in a warm rinse, and then after the spin, set the machine for a regular wash cycle.

It does not work, at least in my water, to use much less than the label listings. Does not work!

My goal is excellent results the first time around, and I generally get them!

Good luck.
