Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Family Affair!

Never really liked the show--Buffy and Jody were annoying--but Uncle Bill!

Oh, daddy!

Current fave is How Clean is Your House? I haven't watched regular network shows since I got cable. Now I pretty much stick with "Gay Football."

TV memories

Roseanne had a famous gold Maytag set, eventually replaced by gold 1-18s. Her fridge was a '70s coppertone Frigidaire, matching her slide-in range (brand unknown). In one episode Dan surprised her with an "only slightly used" gold portable dishwasher. I think it was a top-loader, possibly a Dishmobile.

We didn't see much of Laura Petrie's appliances on "The Dick Van Dyke Show," but I remember she had a really funky wall oven. It had a big chrome handle at one side of the door.

handpainted periwinkles

Actually the Royal Doulton with the handpainted periwinkles doesn't exist. What you see in the series is actually Colclough Braganza a series from Royal Doulton that was produced until 1996. Ofcourse it is still very nice stuff for a candlelight dinner. All you need now is a neighbour called Elizabeth who screams "Oh Hyacinth!" when looking at the table arrangement.

Biscuit, Elizabeth?

....and don't forget, she must also be clumsy with her coffee and biscuits (I'll take a beaker please) ;-)

The Roseanne slid-in range was a Tappan electric.

Laura Petrie appliances were for the most part Caloric, including a gas fridge. There was one episode with a Westinghouse kitchen, complete with the rollout dishwasher, the only time I saw a DW on that show.

And yes, "Uncle Bill" was a fox.

Favorite TV Shows-

It seems all my favorites are comedies.

The Dick Van Dyky Show- I'm still in love with Laura Petrie

Hogan's Heroes

Green Acres- Eva Gabor

I Dream of Jeanie

I now get a kick out of watching "Leave it to Beaver" on TV Land. I wish we could go back in time. I know there were problems with society back then, but good people were more innocent, and we have more problems today. And the washers back then...

Home Improvement

So I'm watching an episode of Home Improvement, and I notice Jill is doing laundry in a Frigidaire washer with a windowed lid. Did this set last through the whole series?

Aside from I Love Lucy, which is my all time favorite,
how about Mister Ed, My Favorite Martian and My Mother, the Car.
Anyone remember that one?
The Invaders and The Outer Limits (from the 60's), not the new
one, used to scare the crap out of me when I was a kid. I'd go to bed afterwards & pull the covers over my head after those 2.

Scarrrrrrrry

Jerry:

How right you are about the Invaders and the Outer Limits!! Just the beginning of the Outer Limits (do not attempt to adjust your television) use to scare the bejeezus out of me. Do you remember One Step Beyond? That host was sooooooo creepy! I saw some cds of that show (3 for 99 cents) at the grocery store photo department today. I would have picked one up, but I'm still a 'fraidy cat after all these years! ]:-0

Venus

P.S. Don't forget Rod Serling and Twilight Zone....another creepy host and show. BOO!!

After reading these entries for awhile-I'll vote for "Outer Limits"Again the vintage BW episodes-they also used to scare me as a kid.The BW photography and soft focus camera work was very effective in obtaing the effects desired by the producers for these shows. It was effective.-And it was low cost. Also liked "Twi-Ligt Zone" not sure of the spelling. Used to watch as a kid along with Outer Limits. Have the Outer Limits shows on DVD.

Twilight Zone, One Step Beyond, Outer Limits

Watched all three, were GREAT shows. The "moral lessons" in the writing, especially for The Twilight Zone and Outer Limits were great.

TV show laundry equipment

The Huxtables had a GE set in basement. Featured in one episode where Olivia puts her crayons in the machine (because she had been told they were "washable") and adds a LOT of detergent. The "special effects" that then attract Claire and Theo's attention consisted of the machine making funny noises and wobbling, but no overflowing suds

I remember seeing a gold Maytag dryer and a '60s turquoise fridge (unidentified) outside Deputy Junior's trailer on "Reno 911!"

Does anyone know what kind of appliances Mary Richards had (in either apartment)? Ditto for Rhoda and Brenda?

OK here we go to name a few

Favorite TV shows:
Classic sitcoms
The Brady Bunch - coming out on DVD in less than two weeks YAY!!!

The Partridge Family - getting happy May 2nd.

Mary Tyler Moore - I'm not really into those "office" tv shows as I used to call them, but I'd make an exception for mtm. Of course the real reason is to see the cat go "meow" at the end of each show.

WKRP In Cincinatti - Dr. Johnny Fever!!!!! Rock music, Less Nessman, meow

The Love Boat - making another run on DVD soon hopefully

CHiPs - I WANT THIS ON DVD NOW

Toons:
Ren & Stimpy
Beavis and Butthead
Speed Racer
Schoolhouse Rock
Bugs Bunny/Road Runner
Hong Kong Phooey
Scooby Doo (the original, not the ones with SCRAPPY)

Children's TV
Sesame Street (OLD 70s-early 80s before Elmo ruined it)
Mr. Rogers
Electric Company
321 contact.

Now where's my RCA CTC-48?

Venus, I Do remember "One Step Beyond" Until about a year ago, that was still on late late Saturday nights on a local station. Those were supposed to be based on actual events. I remember "My Mother the Car" from the mid sixites, with Jerry VanDyke. And Lost in Space. Talk about a family with bad luck. After a while all of the monsters began to look and sound the same. LOL! My all times favs that I never tire of are, The Brady Bunch, I Love Lucy, The Partridge Family, and Golden Girls. Erik

What a great thread. I would have to say I do enjoy Keeping up Appearnaces and Are You Being Served are two of my favorites and am glad to see others enjoy those as well. For current shows I do enjoy Desperate Housewives quite a bit. A few Appliance memories on tv include the Frigidaire kitchen Samantha had on Bewitched and Gidget's sister got a new Frigidaire washer with S&W stamps.
