Make pancakes!!!!

I bought a 1980s Tefal combination sandwichtoaster/wafflemaker/contact grill aa while ago which kept tripping the electricity. Investigated the issue and found a 3 amp fuse in a 1000W appliance.

Changed the fuse for a 13amp and only got chance this evening to try the Tefal out.

Plugged it in and after a minute or so of heating up it tripped again so......

Seeing as I had made the batter decided to improvise and ended up with a pile of Scoth Pancakes!!

Frustration sets in....

Good lord, shows how much time I have had lately. Didnt realise just how much muck gets trapped down the side of the cooker after a couple of weeks heavy cooking sessions.

How embarrassing LOL

Its not there for long now I have seen it!

Well they look like the turned out good regardless. But my gawd what is that primitive looking wooden thing in the bowl of pancake batter? . I hope there's some electrical cord coming out of the end we can't see in the pic.. How does it work? LOL

btw how do you like that tfal thermospot pan, I've considered getting one, pan fetish you know.

You know what's good on pancakes as well other than the traditional maple syrups etc.. Get some Roses Lime Cordial (in the mix section of liquor and grocery stores usually) and pour some of that on sparingly at first.. then sprinkle them with sugar,, yum,, better on thinner type pancakes.

Oh the wooden spoon.

Mixture was initially mixed with a Kenwood Chefette hand mixer but the wooden spoon I used to stir and drop the mix into the pan.

I rather like my Tefal Thermospot pan, The only real reason I bought it was I wanted a decent heavy nonstick metal safe frying pan I could put in the oven after sealing meat in.
But it does come in handy for other things,

Nicely dishwasher safe and has not let me down yet although Im not so sure the Thermospot works. Seems to take an awful long time to heat and the spot only darkens a little and the T is still visible, according to the instructions it should darken completly and go a solid burgundy colour.

No importance to me I have to admit.

Those Tefal....

....frypans are fantastic...

We have a couple here. One is basically a flat pan with minimal edging that I use to semi-fry/poach eggs in...start with a teaspoon of oil, spread around pan and drop eggs in....when the white is nearly cooked I add 2 tablespoons of water and put a glass lid over....

they literally slide out....just don't get them glowing hot is all I will say...non-stick tends to not like more than 75% of a ranges ability...

I hope there's some electrical cord coming out of the e

Well, actually, I've seen one of these recently and you don't actually plug a cord into that wooden thingy. What you do, is get an extension cord with a double adaptor, plug one end into the power point and the other into whatever moves the wooden thingy. If you want to speed up the process you add a few short taser bursts. That way you'll get extra-frothy pancake better.

Tripping out with Tefal...

Hey Rob, there's probably nothing wrong with the old girl! If it hasn't been used regularly recently, moisture will probably have built up in the mineral insulation of the element, causing the tripping. It's something that's a fact of design with some elements which wouldn't have affected old style wiring without RCDs, but leads to nuisance tripping in newer installations.

The site below suggests resetting the RCD a few times to let the moisture get driven out, and then it should be OK. I had the same problem with a Baby Belling that was unused but had been kept in a garage, wish I'd known that at the time as it scared me to death!
