There are many posts about "oil" for Maytag wringer washers on AW. Using search function will turn them up easily.

If by "oil" you're referring to machine leaking oil down rear leg, this is common. However what you are seeing is gear case grease that has liquified and is "leaking" down and out of machine.

Depending upon age, level of use, maintenance and some other bits entire gear case would need to be removed, cleaned out, fresh grease put in, then things put back into washer.

If washer was tipped over face down (as in start/stop knob on front)that will case "oil" to leak out as well.

As pointed out in some linked AW threads while some oil (grease) leaking is normal to an extent, at some point machine needs taking apart, new seals, gear case cleaned of old grease, and packed with new, put back together....

Eventually water will start getting down into gear case displacing grease. That is the "leaking" of oil so famous. Also over time the grease simply begins breaking down and liquefies.

Maytag wringer washers were often overhauled after "X" numbers of years use. How often depended on many factors including how much/hard machine was used. Those in a commercial or other heavy use conditions would need attention more than one that was lightly used at home.

If you could post some pictures of your machine, and or at least give model and serial number it will help others lend assistance.
