One of my friends has a relatively recent Whirlaway disposall that has siezed up. Who makes Whirlaway? It looks like the modern GE mount and I'd like to know if a new GE style disposall could be installed without changing the mount. I am tempted, however, to change the mount to an ISE style anyway and just use one of their disposalls.

Is one better than the other?
What is the history of Whirlaway?

I think Whirlaway is part of the Waste King line. My parents used to have a Sinkmaster which is pretty much in the same family. I could never get used to the smaller opening compared to the Insinkerator.

Its China made junk now depending on the year. They have no real bearings in there just sleeve bearings and if that don't fail the

A.C./D.C. Rectifier burns out. Wasteking/Waste-Maid and all the ones that resemble them are made in China by Joneca.

Yes any of those with that quick plastic mount will fit but,a I.S.E. Evolution is a much better disposer even the small one.

I have two of those I.S.E. Evolution Excel well one is Kitchenaid and you can't hear it very much at all when it's running.
