The dairy and the appliances have been separate businesses from the earliest days.

Maytag bleu is one of my all time favourite cheeses, and their Cheddar is quite good, too.

Maytag Bleu AND Cheddar have been a staple at my house for years. That cheddar makes a great Mac&Cheese!
The Bleu also makes a great yeast bread!

Of course there is also the delicious cheese from our friend up in Pinconning, MI.-----------------

Last time I ate Bleu cheese I Bleu chunks. I bet the cheddar rawks, though.

One of the Maytag family - I believe his name is Fritz Maytag - was a pioneer in the micro brewery business. He bought Anchor Steam Brewery in San Francisco's South of Market (SOMA) area, back in the 70's, long before "microbrewery" was part of the vocabulary, and turned it around from a failing enterprise into a success.
