Hi. Wanted to ask to see if anyone knows anything about this.
First off for context, I have a whirlpool Powerclean that has the direct feed system and for the hell of it I converted it to the tower system a couple years ago I got the pump outlet, nozzle cap, tower, and upper arm, and when I did this the upper arm had very low pressure, I believe the issue was that I received the wrong pressure nozzle cap it was for an older model and not the newer powercleans like mine. Well last year I got my hands on a 2004 whirlpool with the tower wash system & when I tested it, that had the same problem, when I ran it the upper arm was not working right. The upper arm had very low water pressure, the streams coming from the arm wouldn’t even reach the dishes. The water level was perfect and adding water did not help. I’ve already posted about this before a long time ago but I want to figure out what the heck the actual issue is as I could not figure this out and I’m determined to crack the case once and for all.
I wanted to know if the two white tabs inside the black rubber pressure cap need to line up with that straight line in the pump outlet? There are zero directions anywhere online about putting this cap on and I want to make sure it’s installed correctly. Does it matter if those two little white notches aren’t centered with that line?? Or are they supposed to be center?? When I screw it on tight it doesn’t line up.
I came to the conclusion that the only thing that could be causing an issue for the upper arm not receiving full blast is a faulty pressure cap, when I thought about it I thought about how much heat those caps endure over a span of 20 plus years & given they are rubber, they won’t perform as new forever given the environment they live in. So with that being said I have ordered a brand new nozzle cap, new old stock because I have checked absolutely everything else and everything else is fine. The pressure cap I have appears to be worn in a few areas and definitely should be replaced. When I was working on this dishwasher I couldn’t find a brand new nozzle pressure cap online so I’ve been looking for a year and I finally found someone who’s got em. The dishwasher fills with the correct amount of water and adding water does not increase pressure for the upper arm during my series of tests so I’m hoping that it was a faulty nozzle cap, I’ll find out soon when it arrives. Has anyone else ever had a problem with the top rack not cleaning on a tower feed whirlpool/kenmore Powerclean? Seems I’m the only one that’s experienced this in not one but two newer powercleans.
