I have a friend with a Whirlpool Washer Mod. LDB5300W2. In his words:

"Only agitates a little and doesn’t spin. I can get it to spin again by tilting it forward and putting it on spin, then starting it by hand. If I very slowly lower back the washer after several mins. of tilted spinning, it seems ok, minus the agitator."

Any idea what it may be guys? Thanks in advance!

Clutch?

I have a Whirlpool ultimate care TL machine, and it will do everything except spin. I was told it would be the Clutch.

I don't know if this is the same as your friends, but it was just with you mentioning the spinning issue.

Liamy,

If you have a BD machine it could be as easy as your lid switch. BD's will do everything except spin if that switch is broken or not working.

More info: "When it first goes into spin, I hear a squeaky grindy noise. It’s not terrible. It started when I put in on short wash for the 1st time. When it goes into spin, it clicks into gear and starts to spin, but immediately stops and jams."

Oh yes, there were plenty of anti-trust debates but in the end Washington had few options. If they blocked the deal Maytag would have gone away via bankruptcy. No one wanted the Chinese to get the thing and one assumes DOJ hoped another would offer to purchase Maytag, but that didn't happen. So in the end the most DOJ got was to insist on "conditions" and the thing went through.

don't know what the DOJ has to do with Maytag when were working on a Whirlpool of a different era....but OK!

onward......could be a chance of several things to check out

possible the cam bars sliding across the tranny could use lubrication for the squeek as it engages spin......

possible the cam is not releasing the brake when it calls for spin...

the clutch could be slipping as well....

the bearings could be dry causing the spin to sieze up.....

the belt could have been changed, but if the tranny was not lined up can cause spin issues
