Sometimes it seems like the Duet won't rinse the clothes properly requiring another rinse, can the water level be changed on these machines as well? If so would it help or could this problem be the onset of other trouble?

Roscoe, I have a WFW9150WWOO Duet which is basically the bottom line machine that Lowes was selling and there are often times when you can see excess suds on the door glass when the machine is in its final rinse spin. It usually occurs when it is a large load of whites or even my dark uniforms and I have had to rinse them 2 or 3 more times before the suds disappear. My wife does not over dose on the detergent and rarely uses a fabric softener. We do have soft water now but it did the same with the harder water as well. I do find if you do the rinse and spin, it puts in more water than the Normal rinses do and on Delicate the level is higher and it is highest on the silk setting coming up nearly half way in the window but the washing action is nearly non existent.
I too would like to raise the wash level and see if the results are better. So maybe someone here can give us a helping hint or two.I would even go for an extra pressure switch to experiment with so as not to lose the original factory settings if the experiment doesn't work out.

Normal/Casual uses the least amount of water. I NEVER use that cycle for that reason. Try whites and set wash water to warm if you like for regular loads or bulky items, if you don't have a jeans cycle, for perm press type clothing (clothing that one seees when you walk down the street.

I use to use the Normal cycle but it stopped putting water in the tub for some bizarre reason prior to the first spin and this helped a great deal with rinsing, it was like a cool down part of the cycle to prevent wrinkling and suds control.
When I use the White cycle it doesn't do good period.It is programmed with a second rinse, but when the machine goes into the first rinse it barley fills with any amount of water so I won't use the white cycle anymore.
Heavy Duty seems to give the best results but there are times, and it seems to be getting more often, when the rinsing still has to be done a second time manually.A friend of mine had a duet and had to always respin the clothes but it never came out as spun dry as it should?Could be some electronic bugs in the machines, I'm uncertain, but I will never understand why there are electronics on a washer?
And as far as cleaning the machine it is done on regular basis and I've had a technician look at the machine but he says the machine is filling as it should. this depends on the wash water temputure
if the washer water temputure is on the cold water temputure witch i use it skips the cool down process on the normal casual cycle so if your wife set the washer to do a cold water wash for exemple it will skip the cooldown process. and has for the filling problem it might be the water hookup hose that might eather be squezze by the washer if its to close to the wall or the water hose hook ups might have kinks preventing the water from going true to the washer.

I'd suggest checking your water hardness and consider installing a water softener system if your water is too hard, that will increase washing and rinsing performance. Very hard water will cause issues.
Otherwise, I believe the easiest and fastest way to resolve this issue is to consider replacing the washer with one that uses higher water levels, like either a Huebsch or a Miele.

the duet that i have does three rinses by itself. you can add an additional extra rinse or two extra rinses totaling 5 rinses. the 3 standard rinses i believe work on all cycles. i don't know if yours is doing this or the electronics have stopped working a bit and your only getting one rinse.

Buying a new machine right now is not an option I'm on my third front loader in seven years, the first was a Neptune that worked so well I could use non HE detergent with excellent results, until I had a flood and lost it.The Neptune that replaced it was only good enough to fill with plastic explosives I had that much trouble with it so I bought the Duet.
My water is really soft and I have had problems trying to use a liquid with any amount of good luck so remain with powder detegent(s).
As for the rinsing the Duet I have only rinses twice unless I add an extra rinse to the cycle, so when I have trouble with rinsing I usually set it on another rinse by itself, I find it uses more water and it solves the problem.
So between watching the detergent dosage more closely and a manual extra rinse I may have the solution.
Appnut recommended the white cycle, so I tried it again without the extra rinse in the cycle and it faired much better than the normal cycle, so I guess I can use both White & Heavy Duty for better results, these two cycles seem to use the most water with a decent wash time.I think that the exra rinse programmed into the machine on the White cycle seems to have voided the first rinse so I modified the program by taking out the extra rinse and it worked better,much better, who knew??
Maybe down the road I can get a Huebsch or Miele, so I'll persist for the moment.

What model Duet do you have? My 9150 does 3 rinses automatically and I can add the extra rinse if desired. But only the delicate and silk cycle add any appreciable water during each fill and rinse. The heavy and extra white cycles don't add anything extra.
