Who made this Maytag?

I'm a little lost on this machine in the link......this appears to be an Atlantis by Maytag, and by the looks of the agitator to me, its a Norge built Maytag with the dual drive tranny.....but am told this is a true Maytag with an orbital drive.....I was informed by guys on this site to stay away from these, that they are problem prone....although I am confused where so many like the Norge's but not this one built for Maytag.....

This is not a true Maytag! This is indeed a Norge based machine. Orbital Maytags never had plastic tubs, only porcelain. They were prone to break downs, but performance-wise, people seemed to like them. They held quite a bit!

Yes this one is all Norge and yes the performance is better than the real MTs in all aspects except reliability, The literature from MT even talked about how your clothes would be cleaner and brighter because of the better design of the spin out that keeps the soil from redepositing in the clothes like it does in the dependable care machines. If I was going to have a MT TL washer as a daily driver I would have a Norgetag, but fortunately I have better options.

Thanks for clearing this up....I thought it was a NorgeTag, but the guy said, it was a True Maytag, and this threw me with the corkscrew that has belonged to the Norge drive, LoadSensors were put in orbitals.....not to mention that the Lifetime plastic tub was for the lower levels of Maytags, Stainless was available, and only Porcelain tubs were in Obital/Newton Drive machines....

Funny.  I just watched this video just before you posted your question.  Nice machine.  I had the true Atlantis machine with the staines steel tub.  I liked the machine, but the agitator fins were designed in such a way that they created a pinch point where they would grab clothing and pull at it.  Never would have known except that I bypassed the lid switch and watched it.  During spin drain, when the wash water would clear the base of the agitator, I noticed clothing being held by the fin like an old fasioned clothes pin.
