I have stoves running out my butt! But do I have just 1 Vintage washer? NO! I've looked and looked! I've went down alleys, on porches, scrapyards, you name it I've been there! I'm starting to realize that I'll probably never find my pink control towers or the 56's because I can't even find a washer that I don't want! I've even hit up EVERY old lady that comes into the shop and ask them what they have in their basement! I'm not going to give up yet. I'm still installing the hook ups for it, even if it has to sit barren for five years!

( The one that's just a little bummed tonight!)

Kenny,

That would be great but.... I really don't think someone would come off of a set of 56's or a pair of control towers. Maybe if I hit the Lotto! Nice thought though!

Ya gotta have some favorites, besides the pink 56's,or control towers. You need to have something to fall back on.Maytag Highlanders? Solid tub SQ's? If you look for something attainable, then the impossible usually shows up.

And never say never! You never know what lurks around the next corner........

Now Lady Bethann!!

Don't fret my dear! I NEVER thought I would find a matching dryer to my 56 WP... And there is one sitting in my garage right now. It takes time. You are "hanging" with the right crowd. :) Kenny is right. You have to have second and third, and even fourth choices. Then someday you might be able to trade someone for what you are really after.

Re: Hey! Bethann, I know how you feel:

I know how you feel, Bethann. I was really getting Jealous at all of the Guy's lately finding all of these great Vintage Machine's and wondering why none of them are around my area. Well, as you know by just trying to attempt to be patient, "Your Time Will Come" as it did for me. As you've no doubt have seen the Thread Posting, last week I had my Luck turn-around for me, when Robert published about the 1950 Kenmore Dryer available here in Sacto. It was only about a 20-minute drive from where I live and interestingly enough, it was in a Neighborhood where my Parent's had lived with my Brother, before I was Born. The people who had the Dryer, actually live "Kitty-Corner" from the house where my Parent's house was and you could even see actually the house next door to the left of our house, from these people's Kitchen Window.

"Good-Luck" and "Hang-In-There" Bethann, you'll get your Vintage Washer, Dryer or both in due time.

"BTW" it was a great "Pre-Birthday" Gift for me, since my Birthday is just around the corner, May 3rd and the Dryer was Manufactured the same year that I was Born too, so we can grow old together..."LOL"

Peace, Happy Laundry Day's, Hug's and Happy Hunting, Steve

Re: P.S.

P.S. I forgot to mention, that I'm naturally hoping to locate the Matched 1950 Kenmore Washer to my newly found 1950 Kenmore Dryer and I'm also hoping to locate a {1954?} Frog-Eye Kenmore Washer, with the Blue Timer Lens/Dial and the Push-Button Water Temp and Water Level, also with the Front-to-Rear Opening Lid and the traditional "Fat-Black/Bakelite" Roto-Swirl Agitator. After these, I'm hoping to locate a Mid-1960's Kelvinator Washer & Dryer and a Mid-1960's Philco Washer & Dryer, with the neat Multi-Color Cycle Selector Len's, above the Push-Button Selection Button's. After these, I just hope that I can locate whatever comes along in the Vintage Catagory of Washer's & Dryer's.

Peace and Happy Laundry Day's, Steve

Hang in There Bethann

I know when I first started looking for a Flair range, it was frustrating because they were all popping up but at places to far away from me to pick up. It seemed like the flairs were very popular in the west coast. A lot of them kept showing up in California. It was like "COME ON!", they were made in Dayton, "There's gotta be some around here.. SOMEWHERE!". Anyway, that day finally came a little over a year ago when one showed up in Cinncinatti. When the time is right, It will happen.

Off course, I've been looking for any of the vintage frigidaire washers just a long, but nothing yet.

Hang in there!

Bethann--- You seem like an intelligent, daring, resourceful woman, so why can't you see the obvious option staring you right in the face? STEAL THEM from someone!! All this waiting around and being patient and searching the good search is for the birds, my dear!

Having recently locked myself out of my house, I was surprised at how quick and easy it was to break in with nothing more than a small rock found in the street.

Even more importantly, however, hurling that rock through the window of my garage door was a TOTAL FREAKIN' ADRENALINE RUSH----the likes of which I haven't experienced since my college days back in the late-70's. It was completely liberating!

In conclusion: Go find a rock and FOLLOW YOUR BLISS, BETHANN!!

Sidebar: Ok, so now you all understand why it's good I never had kids, right? :)

I do know were there's a beautiful 58 Westinghouse dryer just sitting outside waiting for me to snatch it!!! It's a little bit of a drive but it might just be worth it! Maybe I could hold it for ransom or something!
