Windfresh Powdered Detergent from Sam's Club

We have both a Costo and Sams here in Lexington and am a member of both. I like Costco better but a few months ago I was at Sams and bought the huge bucket of Windfresh powder. It has sat stored away until I ran out of current detergent which was Costco Kirkland HE powder. I opened it today to use it. I did three loads and I LOVE IT!! Stains gone, barely a smell left behind and it is super cheap. I only bought it because I had read nothing but great reviews about it and wanted to try it. Someone on here mentioned Windfresh in a post and I looked it up way back then..The container it comes in reminds me of the big huge bucket of powedered Sears detergent, only this is square instead of round.

I saw that too at Sam's. I've never tried it though. I am still working through my Sears detergent and just bought a box of Cheer. I like detergents that leave some smell...so the Sears is kinda ify for me. It does clean well though. The Cheer is a little stronger in scent.

Do you add STPP to it Mark?

Mark-- I have a friend who really likes Windfresh but is not a Sam's Club member, so I pick up a bucket for him a couple of times a year.

 

While Member's Mark Ultimate Clean (liquid) shot to near the top of Consumer Reports' ratings, Windfresh dropped a few points (as did many detergents) when they started testing in 75 degree water.  They noted it still removes blood and tea stains very well at that temp, but removal of grass stains and dust sebum (ring-around-the-collar) suffered a bit.

 

Your Duet most likely delivers warmer warm water (around 85-90 degrees) which boosts Windfresh's performance.  Plus, you and I have HE front-loaders and we both know what that means.

 

The user reviews at CR are very enthusiastic and it's a fantastic bargain at $.08 cents per load!

I have some STPP

and sometimes I do use it, depending if there are a lot of stains, which usually there aren't..

I use a little liquid fab softener mixed with white vinegar for rinsing and the clothes are left smelling just barely scented, like a faint clean smell and definitely not over powering which is what I like. I do love (or used to love) the smell of Gain detergent. I liked the Sears detergent a lot too. I've used Gain He powder, Tide He powder, Sears he powder, Costco He powder and now this Windfresh. I think of all of them, Costco was my least favorite, but it still worked pretty well. I won't have to buy detergent for a LONG TIME!

This sounds like something we've been praying for here at AW! A detergent that cleans clothes AND leaves no wiffy "Ou Da La Stinky Flower?" This is the stuff of miracles. 

 

However, I think the name "Wind Fresh" could produce some rather cruel and crude jokes pertaining to other things that are "Wind Fresh," if you get my drift

Windfresh from Sams Club

I have been using Windfresh for a long long time going back to the day it came in a larger round pail. I recently tried the Costco Kirkland HE and believe it is the same product. The pail is identical as well as the manufactures markings on the pail. I believe these products are made by a company called Sun.

I've seen the Wind Fresh at Sams, but with no enzymes or sodium percarbonate what does it have to recommend it? I had wondered if its no different than the big buckets of Sun detergent? Thank you, Cheryl

I can't tell you what it has in it. I know I am satsified with our laundry and
like the fact I don't need much and it doesn't suds up too much. I have always preferred powdered detergent. Menards also carries Sun in pails which may or may not be the same thing. It kinda like buying the store brand at the grocery store.

One interesting note I will add about this stuff

It's heavier (literally). For example: a long time ago I bought the SEARS HE powder in the big bucket. I liked the scoop so I kept it and use it instead of the other HUGE scoops that come with detergent. When I scoop out a level scoop of detergent, the windfresh is significantly heavier than any other powdered detergent I've ever used using that same scoop, including Gain HE powder, Tide He powder, Costco Kirkland HE powder, Sears HE powder..I wonder what's up with that?
