Hello knowledgeable people!

I have a Westinghouse D64-47 electric range that had burners that weren't working. I have purchased some original corox burners to put back in (when I bought it there were replacements in place). The problem is the ones I'm replacing take four wires, but the corox ones seem to take three. What should I do with the extra wire?

On the ones I'm replacing the wires are labeled "1", "2", "COM" and the fourth one is attached to a metal bracket so I assume that would be ground.

Attached is a photo of the two burners. The one on top is the one I'm replacing, the bottom one is the corox.

Any help greatly appreciated!

This looks like an apples & oranges situation to me.  It's hard to tell from the picture, but it doesn't appear the the Corox burners you're hoping to use even mount the same way to the connecting block.

As I recall, on my mom's '49 Westinghouse, which hadn't changed much from the '47s, The block was color coded for the three wire connections, like B(lack), W(hite), R(ed).  I tried to find images for this on line, but had no luck.  Maybe a member has an example laying around that would help to sort this out.

Others here who are more familiar with the wiring scheme may be able to advise on how or if you can repurpose the existing block, and if any modifications would be required on the burner control switches as well.

The unit on the left if for a 5 heat switch. The unit on the right is for an infinite heat switch. They are not interchangeable without replacing switches and the terminals for the units as well as mounting hardware to hold the unit in place. They are both COROX units, just different generations.

I was afraid of that! They were the only corox burners I could find, assumed they would be right. You know what they say about assuming :)

If I were to order other elements that had the double coil, would I be fine with any I find? As long as it has the four connections and is 240v?

Thanks!
