I don't post on here much because I don't have a vintage washer - at least I didn't until last month. I got myself a Hoovermatic Deluxe - one that I'd wanted for years, as it has the best combination of automatic rinse and no interlock on the spinner.
My first wash went fine with it, but the second time I tried it, both tubs would fill at once. As it was at my mums, it's only now that I've had the chance to check the pump, and it turns out that one of the water valves had come clean off the spring that holds it on. I have tried ordering a replacement valve online, but it looks like they only recently became obsolete, as they were listed on spares sites but are apparently unavailable.
So anyway, I've now glued the valve back onto its mount (luckily the rubber valve is in good condition), and the machine is coming home with me tonight. I really hope this repair works, as my other half was reluctant for me to bring the machine home... and if it still plays up, he'll be even less keen!
Nevertheless, I'm still proud to be a Hoover twin tub owner now!
