I still can't believe that I got that Unimatic and it runs like a Dream.

Long ago you all must remember the post about the Water Valve

Coldspot66 gave me a Whirlpool Watervalve that looked the same and I hooked it up with no problems.

My Question.,,,.... Could it possible that the Water Valve is still sensing after all these years ?

I hooked up the Unimatic tonight and I wnet through Major Water Adjustments and I finally got the right temperature.

The Water Temp. Switch will only work on Warm. Its's a Toggle Switch. ( Sorry Togs ) and I'm wondering is this an elctrical issue or should I change the switch ?

Hey Rich

If the switch is on hot, nothing happens.

I tried mixing the water by hand at the silcocks If I want to mix Warm, sometimes I only get hot. If I turn off the Hot, there is a trickle of cold for a few seconds and then the cold comes on strong. Then I can regulate the hot.

Also, the fill valve is from a 1955 Whirlpool. The NOS valve I got from Larry at MP, leaked.

I can live with this, but the valve's mind of it's own left me scratchin' my head.

After using the Unimatic all summer (4-5 loads a week) I find that I have to force myself to give that machine a "rest". I just love the way it cleans, runs, and is quick.

HI Eddie

I get it: the Frigidaire addiction has claimed me too. If you don't have the time or the parts, here's an easy solution. Cap off the defective valve. Get a Y hose and attach it to the taps and to the remaining hose. Select warm, and you're back in business. Adjust the temps as you please. Now you can have cool , medium, etc, an infinite water temperature control. Very nice.

I use a capped off valve on my Frigi because I have to: the wetbar in the kitchen where the Unimatic spends its winters has only one tap. The machine doesn't seem to notice or care what I've done to it.... SO FAR........

Thanks Guys.

But here's the weird part.

The Original Solenoid... Reacted the same way.

Larry MP Solenoid leaked.

Whirlpool is the same as the Original. So... I think my Gut is telling me the switch is bad, LOl

Thanks Guys.

Eddie, you can easily get a $4 Heavy-Duty toggle switch like that at Ace Hardware or Home Depot that will be a perfect replacement.
