wish it was concrete?

I'd slap you for that LOL I love mowing although I think that an electric takes some of the fun out of it hassling with that cord. BTW love those vintage lawn chairs you have up there on the porch as well.

This thread answered my question about your vintage electric mower.
Wow! 1960 Wizard! That is too cool! Wizard was going green even back when.
I bet it is fun to hear run. Esp. on start up.

I have to agree with Pete on this one Hans. Moving is fun with a vintage mower, but the cord would be a pita after a time.
I would look for a vintage self propelled Lawnboy mower. It will make your mowing chores easy. We are doing three city lots with this 1963 Lawnboy Automower now.

Cool Lawnboy Rick!

I remember these well!
I used to love the smell of the exhaust!
Didn't you mix the oil with the gas?

I got tired!!!

Of pulling the rope till I saw stars,I usually gave up on getting the D@#$%^ thing started, but I do have a soft spot for Lawn Boys,my dad never would have anything else since he bought the first one in 65,the summer I was born....I mowed with it as a teenager!!But for me,I like to plug in and go!!!It never fails to START!

Hans,

I agree with you about hating mowing. It takes me about 1 hour and 15 minutes to finish, that is on my tractor cutting 2.5 acres.
Too bad having it all concrete or astroturf is slightly cost prohibitive

I Broke Down...

and hired out yard cutting to a local college guy. It used to take 6 hours a week to keep my yard up to standards. Now it is one less thing for me to worry about.

Mowing is not at the top of my list of favorite household duties, either.

I have a 2004 Snapper self-propelled walk-behind. It's a decent mower, but it doesn't like to restart if you shut it down mid-mow. It has to sit and cool for awhile, or you'll run down the electric-start battery trying to get it going again.

It takes an hour to mow my lawn. My house is built into a hill, which makes the task an adventure, LOL.

I don't mind mowing - it is good exercise. Takes me 1 hour using a self propelled Toro. The worse part is the front of the yard where it is quite steep. Also when it is very dry like it has been, the mower blows a lot of dirt around in the areas where the grass doesn't grow so good.

Craftsman Mower

I used to have a Craftsman mower when I lived in Florida. Actually, I gave it to my Dad as a Father's Day Present. He used it a couple of times and proclaimed it was too heavy and went back to his cheap Murray. A year later, the chore of grass cutting became mine and I was grateful for that heavy self propelled beast.

When I moved to Atlanta, I had every intention of purchasing another Craftsman mower, but Sears and I had a terrible falling out over a washer and dryer incident. I vowed never to spend any money with them again.

I ended up buying a Honda mower and MAN, it was a breeze to cut the lawn with it. It started on the first pull every time. It had the double blade for finer mulching. For the money, it was a top notch performer.

I miss cutting the yard in April and part of May, but the rest of the hot months, not so much. Easier to pay to have it done.
