WTB Wringer washer in Texas

Hello everyone,
I am in the market for a functional wringer washer. Not really looking for any particular brand, but I would like one with a pump drain, but I would not be completely adverse to a gravity drain model... This washer would be for use daily as a primary washer.
Im located in Georgetown Texas, and wouldn't mind having to drive a few hours. Also, I spend a good amount of time in Sullivan Missouri (45 Min out of STL) and wouldn't mind picking something up around there and taking it back with me.

Hi Joe

You should be able to find one, especially since your willing to traval. eBay, Craigslist ect.
There's a few things to look for, or watch out for when looking one over to take home, but let us know what you find.
I have a Maytag wringer (with pump) Lots of parts still available for Maytags.

I have looked around on craigslist locally, and there is a really nice Maytag, however they want $450 for it and there are two more one having sat in the middle of a field for the better part of thirty years, and the other looking just as decrepit presumably from similar treatment. The one thing those both had in common is that they were over $150...
I have no problem paying a couple hundred dollars for a nice one as I intend to use it for a LONG time, but it seems around here people think they are gold or something... There is an antique shop around here that has a maytag that has some minor rust on the exterior, but the inside has been filled with potting soil and short of ruining their display I would have no way to test it or examine it before purchasing it...

There's one out there for you, and for the right price.
You might post a message here.. Maybe in shoppers square.. Maybe someone here has one their willing to let go to a good home.
Don't know if you've use or worked on a wringer or not, but they are usually pretty bullet proof. However there some things to watch for..
First make sure that the agitator comes off (as it's supposed to) take a good look at the tub, checking for holes. Fill it if you can, and see if it holds water. If not then there's a good chance water has gotten into the power unit (gear box) this can be fixed but it's a lot of time trouble, sometimes $
If that checks out plug in, see if electric moror runs, and check operation of wringer. Make sure it rolls in both directions, and that the plate under the wringer moves in both directions to divert water to run in either direction. Next make sure wringer locks in all positions, and that the tension on the rollers locks down, and releases. Look for excessive grease on rear leg of machine, or weeping of grease from the weep hole on cross bar.
Also wheels should turn, and one wheel should have a break on it
Paint is just cosmetic on the outside, not a big deal.

Found an electric speed queen wringer washer. Model # A948. Patent date june 26, 1934. made in Ripon Wi. does anyone have info on rarity or value? Yes , it is in working condition.
