In this house there was a bottle of "Wype" which is a painted surface cleaner. Don't have a photo just yet, but this stuff works great. I used it on both enamel painted woodwork as well as flat painted plaster, and it worked well on both (well, it couldn't remove all the stains from the flat paint, but that's understandable. It did remove most of them).
It requires no rinsing, just a wipe off with a terry cloth ("turkish towel").
Anybody used this stuff?
It's from Easterday Supply, mfg in Los Angeles.
The label says, among other things,
"WYPE Paint and wall cleaner. A revolutionary cleaner specially prepared for removing dirt, smudge, grease, smoke, etc., from painted enameled and glossy surfaces. Contains no soap, and is as harmless as water. A "Once - Over" cleaner. Rinsing and drying unnecessary."
I have reason to believe this product is from the 70's.
