I almost drove by it thinking it was some kind of box fan out by the dumpster but for some reason I circled around for a second look. I've never seen one before and am wondering if any of you have? It's been roughed up and I'm not sure if I'll actually DO anything with it but as this 110v. dryer design is new to me, I'll at least see what makes it tick...

I'm guessing this dryer sucks air in thru a small grille in the back and blows it thru the filter in the door and out the front.

A plastic molded tumbler! This explains why this thing is about the size of my Maytag DE50 but can easily be picked up and carried with one hand. I almost expect to find plastic motor windings as well. Obviously the tumbler is heat resistant but well... Does anyone have experience with this critter before it undergoes exploratory surgery?

Yes... I do remember seeing these, or one like this in the appliance stores (or depts) when I was younger. Um, in the 70's or maybe 80's?

I remember thinking they are REALLY small inside... and how odd that it just vents out through the door.

Have you tested it yet to see if it works or does anything?

No, not yet. I just got it today and it probably won't be touched before the holidays. Way too much dust to settle...

Yes, I had this dryer and the matching portable washer.

Used these in my apartment about 1989-90 for several years until I moved to a townhouse that had room for full size machines. They both worked very well and gave me no problems. The washer was automatic and impeller style, connected to sink faucet. I really liked them.

See both the dryer and washer on CL or fleaBay often enough. Before got my vintage Whirlpool dryer was tempted to get one of the ones shown above, but the idea of exhaust air blowing into the room (with all that lint and heat), put me off.

I HATE it when people perform cordectomies. Most times, there is nothing wrong with the unit, but they cut the cord anyway.

I've never seen one of these. I like finding these "odd ball" machines! What great savings in the Winter with all that moist heat entering the room! Nice high wattage too.

Looking forward to hearing if you can get it up and running.

Seamus, that sure does look similar but I'll bet it has some weight to it. This little Sanyo is so light, I'm wondering if I'm going to get it open and find it's empty inside except for the drum. It must have a motor about the size of a refrigerator evaporator fan motor, judged by weight...
