GREAT cup of coffee if it's Westinghouse!!  We haven't had a coffee maker on here for a while so I wanted to share my latest addition with all of you.  A few weeks ago I was visiting Rick, (Crevicetool) in Atlanta.  On our way to the airport Rick said there were a couple antique shops in town he wanted to take me to which of course was great with me.  In one of the shops they had the most amazing collection of vintage kitchenware I have ever seen. On one shelf we saw a very interesting looking pot.  We took it down and looked more carefully.  This is a coffeemaker that I have only seen a picture of before and that was on the back of an instruction booklet for a Westinghouse Washer manual.  This is a vacuum coffeemaker, much like the Sunbeam CoffeeMaster.  I was amazed that the rubber seal was still soft and pliable on it.  Well I thought for a bit and common sense won out.  I had so many coffeemakers already and I just couldn't add another......so I didn't get it.  However before I was even on the plane I called Rick and asked him to go back and get it.   Rick gave it a spa treatment and tested it out before he sent it to me.  It works perfectly!  Here is a picture of the complete unit.  If any of you have any information about this coffeemaker like maybe when it was made I would love to hear about it.

Westinghouse Vacuum Coffeemaker

I made a pot of coffee tonight and it was delicious.  Also tried Rebecca's Pound Cake recipe.  Only made half the recipe so instead of gaining 5 pounds I will only gain 2 and a half!!  The cake is delicious !!  Cake and coffee anyone??

Thanks all for your comments.  Pete, Jon, and Greg, I do think it makes just as good of coffee as the Sunbeam.  It has a 1000 watt heating unit so it is pretty fast.  One strange part is that the top bowl doesn't fit on tightly like a Sunbeam.  You really don't even have to push it down.  When I first saw it I though there is no way this will work, but is sure does perfectly.  Yes Greg, that is a mini bundt pan.  It is the heavy cast one to boot!  Many years ago I found that at Carson's in Chicago.  Perfect for half a recipe of pound cake!  Jon those older FarberWare pots do make a great cup of coffee.  I'm sure looking forward to seeing your collection.  Greg, remember how many of those we found "dumster diving" on my very first visit to Omaha?

I think vacuum made coffee is the smoothest there is, hands down. When using a vacuum style pot, the coffee doesn't perculate as in a conventional pot.

What's the capacity of the pot, it looks like it is quite large? What kind of filter does it use? Similar to Coffeemasters, or glass rod like Cory's?

It sure is a nice looking pot! Congratulations on your find.

Thank you Allan, I think it is just an 8 cup like most of the Sunbeams, might be a little more.  The filter is almost like the Sunbeam but much smaller around.  Worked great and there wasn't any grounds in the coffee.  Eric, I saw this mug a while back at a sale and got it.  Seems like I use to see them so often so I thought I am going to start a small collection of them.  Haven't seen one since.LOL

Terry and Eric

Look on the underside of those 'rainbow' mugs.

Some of them used to be the  base of and FTD flower arrangement, but the name escapes me.

Of course, I have several in my collection.
