My young niece has gotten the washer bug...or at least the swirling water bug! She enjoys sitting up on top of the dryer helping her mom (my sister) do laundry. Mom will fill the machine up with soapy water while adding clothes. Once it's filled, the machine starts agitating all the soapy water around. She sits there intently watching the washer swirl the water around and clean the clothes.

Well, She has a stuffed dog which she loves to death, she's named the dog Barky. Well, Barky was getting a little dirty. Only problem was that she didn't know how to make the washing machine fill with water and clean Barky.

She comes down the hall this weekend while my sister and I were chatting in the living room. She's just absloutely beaming with delight, carrying a soaking wet Barky dripping water down the stairs and into the living room. "I washed Barky!!!" she exclaimed. My sister asks "You haven't been playing with the washing machine have you. You don't use the washing machine if I'm not around!" Knowing that she is hardly tall enough to reach the controls on the washer, there was no way she ran Barky through the washer! Somehow though, Barky got wet! Well, the next words out of her mouth..."No, I didn't use the washing machine, I washed Barky in the Potty!!!"

...of course, it wasn't too much longer that Barky did get a bath in the Washer. After a little explaining that you don't wash things in the potty, she sat on top of the dryer in her ususal position and watched Barky get nice and clean!

dA!

My brother-in-law was (supposed to be) watching his daughter, (my niece), when his dear 4 year old brought him a cup of water.

My sister was in the basement attenting to her washing machine. (Maytag TOL Dependable-care... bought by guess who...but I digress).

He had just taken a swig of water and said "Thank you KOUKLA MOU [read: "sweetie"] so good MMMMM" when my sister said where did she get the water; she can't reach anything?

Just at that moment she said "Daddy like it cocky water."
I was told he RAN to the kitchen sink and tossed his cookies--violently. It wasn't the water. It was the IDEA of the source.

Well the little girl was in stitches and my sister chuckled under her breath and realized he will NEVER leaver her semi- unattended again.

BTW he is borderline narcoleptic. He can sleep anywhere any time anyhow. Not anymore!

That is truly helarious.

I have always liked watching the washer, its just interesting. I also like watching the water swirl around in water filter vacuums, like the Rainbow.

Great stories.

I can share one of my own... I must have been 3 or 4 and I remember being fascinated with our Maytag washer so one day I decided that since it could clean clothes then it could clean ME but I wasn't dirty enough, plus it looked so damned cozy, sooooo... as my mother recalls (at the most embarrassing times) she walked into the laundry room to find me standing in the washer tub, swinging violently (trying to agitate the tub) with my diaper at my ankles all the while doing my "business" in the washer!

Fortunately she always unplugged the washer after she used it though I bet she was secretly tempted to put ME on a spin cycle :-)
