I have a youngstown kitchens dishwasher that came with the house I bought. The house was built in 1950 and i am certain it is a 1950 dishwasher. it does have the window top, the only part i see that is missing is the silverware basket, all the racks look brand new inside the unit it looks like it was never used. the power wires to it have been cut. I have thought about hooking the water and electric back up to it, and see if it works, but i am not really mechanically inclined. I was wondering a value of it and or if anyone would be interested in it. I will post pictures tomorrow. if anyone would happen to have any information it would be greatly appreciated.

I recently acquired one like this and like yours the cabinet and racks are in great shape AND I am also missing the silverware basket! How odd!!

Like yours, the one I bought had been disconnected and had sat for many many years. I tested the components individually and found the timer was good, the pump motor was good but that the pump itself had seized. I am still trying to figure out a way to fix that (or find a suitable replacement).

If you can open the pump case (it may need some WD40 to loosen the screws), see if you can spin the pump impeller by hand; if so, you are in good shape!

There are several Youngstown Dishwasher owners here who are far more knowledgable than me, though!!

Sounds promising! The seal can be re-made easily enough, though.

If your adventerous, you might want to try pouring a bucket of really hot water into the machine, let is stand for a good half hour and then try powering it up!
Be sure to put a bucket under the drain pipe, though!!
