Probably a 90% chance, Whirlpool direct drive washers were the most produced top-load washer in history. I'd say about 9 out of every 10 washers sold were a direct drive.
do you think its wise for me to be prepared for the worst and just a quick question what are the cycle lengh with and with out options selected on the tc 5 washer by speed queen just doing homework because if my mom and i have to change i went to convince her speed queen would be the choice to go huebsch if i use the name for the canadien model

I know nothing about newer Alliance Laundry systems Speed Queen products.

after resetting my password and genuinely being able to see the modern décor of this site, i have to admit that i despise of it already

rather than paying 12 bucks a year, i have somehow found myself paying 96, which will soon stop as i think i'll go elsewhere, considering how big of a disaster this already seems to be

guess this is just another modern day crapshow now, not worth my time, money, or effort

i'll keep this account, but there's no point in putting much effort into posting or anything else really
to be honest in the modern era that is 2025 either washer is vintage old school top load front load or modern frontload or vmw or vmax model i feel its wrong not to have a warm rinse option either its a warm wash or hot water wash requiring a warm rinse (hot water or sanitize in case of sick or allergies) or simply to fully remove suds or detergent residue on clothes
I couldn't log in under this name, "300C", so I created a new login "Dr. Strabismus" and discovered that I'm still here.

You might wonder why I made my new name choice: my late Father was a much-beloved family physician (Dr. Allen), and I have double-vision (a medical condition known as strabismus).

One more comment: I haven't posted much over the years, but it's good to be here, and I'd love to now what you think of my new name.
I don't know if my post came out, but I really do like the new layout. Whoever designed it much more clean cut than the older version I will be using and visiting much more often now thanks again to whoever designing this new look.
i am starting to think of ways to convince my mom that we should consider a used refurbish as new set direct drive kenmore or beltdrive like in these pics

Direct drives are the best when they come with more features like 3 speed motor, automatic temperature control, hot/warm, soak, prewash, permanent press cool down, super wash, and the like. If you are really lucky you could find a catalyst.

the washer in the pic if i manage to convince my mom we are better off with a vintage directdrive washer would be my first choice and knowing myself i would use the warm wash warm rinse alot and same with hot wash warm rinse

I believe a featured vintage direct drive is the best choice. Warm rinse has the benefit in that it relaxes the garment fibers leading to better detergent extraction.

Sorry about that broken GE.
I've heard so many stories about modern appliances that don't last very long.
It's a damn shame what consumers have to put up with.

Thanks for your reply.

Well Pierre, tell your mom that although the cost to buy the Speedqueen is scary to her, it's a "one time" investment that will last decades.... a long time.
Satisfied customers, and even several of my friends, all rate the SQ machines highly.
Well worth the initial expense.
Buying several cheaper machines every couple of years is stupid when a SQ would outlast them all.
