2011 AWN412 Speed Queen top load wash basket suddenly snagging and ruining clothes.

Out of the blue I have ruined socks. An inspection has very sharp snags at the bottom wash basket seam. Is the wash tub coming apart like cracked or split at the seam? Sharp spots red arrow area.



I put a new belt and idler on this machine in the last year or so. So it's been used enough that it wasn't like this new.

Potassium waster softener in use if it matters.

It’s doubtful that the basket is getting rougher post pictures of the damaged socks too please

You can sand or grind away any rough spots, the tub also has a lifetime warranty, but it’s not easy to change if you wanna go that route.

How hard is it to change exactly? I got some good pictures.

Do you have a Dremel take the small grinding wheel and just grind these areas smooth would be by far the easiest way to deal with this.

You can also contact your Speed Queen dealer and arrange to have the basket replaced. The basket is covered by lifetime warranty, but you’ll have to pay service and labor cost probably a couple hundred dollars
